Day 1

Arrive in Iceland in the morning. You will be met by our local representative who will take you to your hotel. You will then be driven through some of Iceland’s beautiful landscape. Proceed on a moderate trek on some lava fields up to the Burfell Volcano Crater, created about 7,000 years ago. You will be blessed with some incredible views at the top. Enjoy a picnic lunch in this beautiful place and afterwards, you will proceed on the second trek of the day which included a visit to a lava tube.

A trip to Iceland must include a visit to the famous Blue Lagoon! The water here is heated by the thermal activity which occurs below the earth’s surface, which also means the water is rich in minerals which have been known to have age-defying properties.

Day 2

Geysirs, waterfalls and tectonics

Today is a geology day. Take a trip to a Geysir and watch it perform as water is projected 30 m into the air. You will visit some of the rifts in the earth’s crusts which have appeared due to tectonic activity. Be amazed by the Gullfoss waterfall in all its splendour.

You will then visit Thingvellir which is where Vikings formed the world’s oldest true parliament. After a jam-packed day, you will head back to Reykjavik for the evening.

Day 3

Fire and Ice

Today you will proceed on a longer hike into a geologically active area, which contains several hot spots, hot springs, fumaroles, mud pots, and steaming rivers. After the tiring hike, soak your body in one of the more secluded hot springs.

Day 4

Westman Islands, Volcanoes and Glaciers

Today after breakfast, you will be driven 45 minutes to Heimaey which is the main town of the Westman Islands. You will be provided with several options of things to do whilst on the island including:

  • A tour of the natural sites

  • A visit to the natural history museum

  • A visit to “Pompeii of the North” which is the buried section of the town

  • A hike up Heimaklettur, at the top of which you are blessed with breathtaking views

  • Puffin patrol, see if you can spot any puffins wandering about. Some babies often wander off and need to be returned to their nests

After you will continue to Eyjafjallajökull which is the volcano which disrupted all of Europe’s air traffic.

You will then head to the bottom of a nearby glacier called Sólheimajökull. Here you will be met by our expert glacier guide who will teach you how to walk on a glacier safely. You will observe several crevasses, ice caves, and towering seracs. After this, you will visit another magnificent waterfall called Skogarfoss, which drops a couple of hundred feet in a mass of water.

You will then return to the mainland where you will then visit two further waterfalls including Seljalandsfoss which is special because you can actually walk behind it. After this, you will be taken to a wilderness lodge where you'll stay the the next couple of nights.
