Costa Rica - the jewel of Central America - literally means 'rich coast' and it is not hard to see why!

Eco-travellers can opt to hike forest-covered volcanoes, kayak lush rainforest canals or just relax on pristine, secluded beaches.
This gay-friendly destination is an eco-tourism magnet for all who want to experience the incredible wildlife and adventure whilst conscious of their impact: it truly can live up to its eco-friendly reputation!

Over 11 days you’ll experience Costa Rica. Instead of rushing from one destination to another, we’ll go to three different places along with San Jose. We’ve been beach and bar hopping to find the must-see locations in this stunning country....
A stunning drive west of the capital, nestled among tropical beaches and pockets of rainforest forest lies Costa Rica’s gay capital: Manuel Antonio. Adjacent to one of the countries most popular national parks, Manuel Antonio has quickly developed into the nations centre for gay travel. Every week there are events specifically organised for Gay Travellers and in July, the entire town enjoys Gay Pride.
LGBT travellers journeying here can enjoy safety, relaxation and luxury in many of the areas gay-owned properties. By day, exploration of the nearby national park is an eco-tourist dream as it’s the easiest place to see the diminutive squirrel monkeys int the entire country! Had your fill of forests, then why not journey inland to tour a sustainable coffee and cacao plantation. Learn how the local ‘Ticos’ traditionally harvest their world famous crops whilst protecting the valuable ecosystems.
As evening descents, enjoy Costa Ricas thriving gay scene. Manuel Antonio had the largest variety of Gay-owned and managed bars and restaurants, giving all LGBT travellers a wide variety to choose from. Gay eco travellers the world over head over to this Pacific enclave to enjoy its outstanding scenery, getting up close with nature and mingling with other LGBT travellers in an inclusive and tolerant environment.
A stones throw away from the Panamanian border you’ll find the Caribbean town of Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. Due to its relatively recent emergence from isolation, this hive of Caribbean and local Biribi tribe influences has allowed the town to develop it’s own very unique identity. For its location and history, cultural and eco tourism has become major draws, upping the element of adventure for any visiting member of the LGBT community.
Larger and out spread than its Pacific counterpart, this relaxed and open minded Caribbean fishing village is a haven for all those who want to add a bit of spice to their eco-conscious journey. Gay travellers can fill their days with a visit to the world famous sloth or jaguar sanctuaries, tour the wildlife refuge of Manzanillo or Cahuita National Park and if feeling brave, surf the Salsa Brava waves or go white-water rafting the Pacuare River.
During your time in Puerto Viejo, a stay in the gay-managed and ever popular Banana Azul will not be beaten: chose from their variety of room, including the Deluxe Frog Suites, or for extra privacy then the Banana Villas will impress. With opportunities for adventure and sustainable tourism limitless, a stay in Puerto Viejo is often described as the perfect way to close any gay tour of the ‘Rich Coast’.
