Gay Honeymoons in Greece

Greece is one of the most popular honeymoon destinations in Europe. The endless blues of the Aegean, whitewashed Cycladic buildings and ancient ruins make for the perfect romantic backdrop. The divine food and unbeatable climate are also major draws. It's especially popular for gay honeymoons.

Honeymoons in Greece

Mykonos and Santorini are the biggest draws for gay honeymoons in Greece. Mykonos is, of course, a gay mecca unlike any other with excellent beaches and nightlife. Every gay traveller has to visit Mykonos at least once in a lifetime.

Santorini is the most popular honeymoon destination in Greece. Perched on a cliff with dramatic caldera and Aegean views, it’s a perfect destination for romance. The blue domes of Santorini feature in the background of many honeymoon photos.

There are so many luxurious boutique hotels on both islands – many of which are designed with romance in mind. Some of the best hotels in Santorini are carved into the cliffside and offer dramatic views of the Aegean and the caldera. Unwinding in a private pool surrounded by such dramatic landscapes is a good way to spend your honeymoon. In the charming villages of Fira and Oia, you’ll find many shops and restaurants. You’ll also discover the most dramatic sunsets in Europe.

The ferry from Mykonos to Santorini takes no more than three hours, so combining the two islands is very tempting and ideal for Greek honeymoons.

You’ll need to incorporate Athens into your Greek honeymoon itinerary. It’s the best place to ensure timely transfers to the Cyclades. You’ll no doubt want to explore the Greek capital and see the sights. You can watch the sunset from Areopagus hill and see the wonders of antiquity at the Acropolis.

Things To Do In Greece

You must visit The Acropolis when you’re in Athens. It’s the best preserved ancient Greek monument. The cult of Athena, Athens’ patron goddess, was established here. In the 5th-century BC, at the height of ancient Greece’s glory, the Acropolis was expanded to include the Parthenon and other great buildings. In many ways, The Acropolis is the birthplace of democracy and European civilisation. A day trip to The Acropolis is a great way to add a bit of culture to your Greek honeymoon.

For another glimpse of ancient Greece, take a trip to the sanctuary of Delphi on Mount Parnassus. Here you can visit the site where the Oracle of Delphi uttered her drug-fuelled prophecies – the god Apollo supposedly spoke through her. You can also see the ruins of the Theatre of Delphi.

If you like shopping as much as we do, head to the trendy Kolonaki district in Athens. It’s packed with luxury boutiques and bistros. You can also explore Athens’ lively gay nightlife.
