This inspiring yoga adventure is returning now for the 4th year in a row to Zipolite. Dive into the beautiful ocean, feel the sand between your toes and explore the many wonders of the Oaxacan Coast. On this retreat you will get to experience the vibrant local culture, alongside daily yoga and meditation classes. Enjoy relaxing on the beautiful beach which is right at the hotel's doorstep.

During the week you will participate in 2 daily yoga, movement meditation and voice work sessions. You will enjoy delicious breakfasts every morning, lunches, snacks and refreshments. Your accommodation is also included in the price. There are some additional add ons which are available to you. These include surf lessons, Spanish lessons, temescal ceremony (traditional Mayan sweat lodge) and massages.


Oaxaca’s beautiful, little-developed Pacific coast will provide everything you desire. See beautiful golden beaches, alongside hidden lagoons filled with all sorts of flora and fauna, you can't go wrong. Offshore are turtles (this is a major global sea-turtle nesting area), dolphins and whales, a perfect spot for diving, snorkelling, sports fishing. This spot is also fantastic for surfing. In this tropical climate, the atmosphere is calm and relaxed and the people are welcoming. Everywhere the scenery is stunning and you're in direct touch with the elements anywhere you go, from the never-ending sandy beaches to the crashing surf to the forest-clad. Inland there are mountains woven with river beds, you are surrounded by outstanding natural beauty, making it the perfect location for a relaxing get away

Zipolite is one of Mexico’s most intimate vistas. It’s known for its individual community, rich history, and outstanding landscape and wildlife. Nestled along the Oaxacan Costline and home of La Playa de los Muertos which gets it’s name from the powerful waves making it a hot surfing spot, Zipolite invites you to drift away on the ocean breezes and get lost in a timelessness that leaves you feeling warmed and renewed.

There are several neighbouring beach towns such as Mazunte, Huatulco or for the surfers in the group Puerto Escondido which is about 45min drive from Zipolite and makes for a fun adventure to add onto your itinerary. It is one of the best surfing spots about! You could rent a car or fly to Oaxaca City for an experience of one of Mexico’s most authentic and animated cities. Immerse yourself in the quirky markets, vibrant art and the local traditional cuisine you won’t find anywhere else.

El Alquimista is the perfect combination of rustic and luxury nestled at the quiet end of the Zipolite cove. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, this laid-back beach hotel has a rustic Bohemian vibe. You will be well attended to by the polite friendly staff. You will be staying in thatched-roof cabins which provide ocean views. They come with ceiling fans (no air-conditioning) and patios with hammocks, as well as 4-poster beds with mosquito netting. Upgraded cabins feature A/C and minifridges.

The hotel also has a pool and is located on the beach front. There is also a nude beach, restaurant, bar, spa, free parking. The hotel also had very fast wifi.

The chef’s at the restaurant will provide you with fantastic healthy international food. You will be served breakfast and lunch, whilst surrounded by beautiful scenery. Dinner is also served at the restaurant however is not included.

The spa within the hotel can offer you the choice of various massages given by professionals who use 100% natural products. The spa also offers Massages, facials and full body scrubs which are also 100& natural.

It is recommended that you bring: suitable clothing, hat, sunglasses, windbreaker or rain coat, warm weather clothes, sunscreen, flashlight, insect repellent, clothes to practice yoga.

Things to do when you are there

El Alquimista is located in a protected cove at the end of the open ocean beach of Zipolite. This means it is a fantastic spot for surfing. If you’re not quite up to the waves, it’s also a great place to watch the local surfers show off their skills! Boogie boards are available to rent, and the area is also a fantastic snorkeling spot. There are snorkeling and boat tours available for you to enjoy. Although the entire beach is nudist, sun bathers prefer the privacy that the cove at the end of the long beach provides. Nudity is not obligatory, but disrespectful onlookers are not welcome and an attitude of respect and discretion is upheld by the locals and visitors.
