Group Trip In Detail
Day 1: Tucson
Our cycling tour will begin in Tucson, a hip town that will lead us to the desert Southwest.
Days 2-3: We Have Reservations
After breakfast we’ll cycle to the San Xavier Indian Reservation. We’ll see the Mission San Xavier del Bac, founded in 1700 and visit the museum.
We’ll pass through the Indian town of Bac into the Sonoran desert along Mission Road. At the Titan Missile Museum we’ll see the front line of the Cold War. We’ll cycle onto the cowboy village of Amado, hike Santa Rita Mountains and also cycle the undulating road of Arivaca.
Day 4: Nogales, Border Patrol
We’ll follow the oasis of Santa Cruz River to the old town of Tubac and visit Tumacacori National Historic Park.
We’ll cycle close to the Mexican border and explore the border town of Nogales. Tonight we’ll have dinner on the Mexican side.
Day 5: Patagonia
Today we’ll only cycle 33 miles to the only grasslands in Arizona. We’ll visit Patagonia Lake State Park and hike Patagonia Creek. We’ll have lunch in Patagonia (a village in Arizona, not that place in Chile!).
Day 6: The Long and Winey Road
We’re heading into Arizona wine country – mmm – for a hardcore cycle through forests of pine and oak.
Day 7: Saguaro National Park and Cactus Heaven
From Sonoita we’ll cycle downhill through Saguaro National Park and have a picnic. Having cycled a large chunk of Arizona we’ll return to our accommodation for a farewell dinner.
