Colombia was ravaged by the drug wars in recent years, as dedicated Netflix viewers will know all too well. Signor Escobar is long dead and Colombia has emerged as one of the hottest tourist destinations in Latin America. Quite an impressive turnaround! It’s a fascinating and beautiful country. Bogota is a colourful, bustling city packed with great architecture and one of the world’s biggest gay scenes.

This luxury gay group trip has been planned by destination experts to maximise your experiences of Colombia. As well as exploring the big city, you’ll have a “Coffee Baptism” at the Temple of Coffee. You’ll also head to the Caribbean side of the country and explore the charming colonial city of Cartagena. Throughout the trip, you’ll be staying in the finest hotels and eating the finest cuisine.

More Information

Colombia has made considerable strides in advancing LGBTQ+ rights, positioning itself as one of the more progressive countries in Latin America in this regard.

Same-sex marriage was legalized in 2016, following a series of legal protections for LGBTQ+ individuals, including rights to adopt children, anti-discrimination laws, and recognition of gender identity on legal documents without the need for surgery or legal proceedings. While LGBTQ+ individuals in Colombia still can face societal discrimination, these legal achievements reflect a growing acceptance and visibility of LGBTQ+ communities within the country.

In detail

? Don't forget that most of our itineraries can be totally customized. Our expert team will be able to talk you through all the options.

Day 1: Bogota

Our representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. We’ll have a welcome dinner in the evening where you’ll get to meet your fellow travellers.

Day 1: Bogota

Day 2: Bogota

Our city tour begins at Paloquemao’s Market. Here you’ll find a mix of Bogota old a new. We’ll then head to the colonial quarter of La Candelaria and explore the Plaza de Bolivar in the heart of the city. There are many sights to see here, including the Cathedral, the Congress Palace, the Cardinal’s Palace and the churches of El Sagrario and San Agustin.

You can take an optional trip to the world-famous gold museum, perhaps Bogota’s most iconic attraction. It gives you a glimpse into the dreams of Eldorado many adventurers had during the great age of exploration. They came to the new world looking for gold and they found it. Much was shipped back to Spain.

Day 2: Bogota

Day 3: Bogota

Today we’ll enjoy a “Coffee Baptism” at the Temple of Coffee. It’s one of the best coffee plantations in the country. Colombia is famed worldwide for its coffee. On this coffee tasting trip you’ll discover all the nuances of coffee, of which there are many. Coffee accounts for around 7–8% of Colombia’s GDP, according to the World Bank.

Dinner together as a group. You can join an optional gay night out in Bogota: this city has one of Latin America’s biggest gay scenes.

Day 3: Bogota

Day 4: Medellin

One, two, cha cha cha – welcome to Medellin. Once considered to be the most dangerous city in the world (thanks, Pablo), Medellin has emerged as one of the most exciting cities in Latin America. We’ll explore El Centro, the downtown area and In Situ, the botanical garden. At Comuna 13 you’ll see a lot of great street art in what was once the most dangerous area of the city. The city may have moved on to brighter things but the locals haven’t forgotten Colombia’s troubled past.

Day 4: Medellin

Day 5: Guatapé

We’ll take a day trip to Guatapé, which is considered to be Colombia’s most colorful town. On the way we’ll visit Penol Boulder: a striking monolith you can climb, although there are 750 steps.

Take a trip to a luxury glamping site in Guatapé and enjoy lunch by the lake. It’ll then be time for a cruise around the islands, where you’ll see homes ranged along the lake.

Back to Medellin in the evening. You can join a gay night out in the evening if you’re up for some bar hopping.

Day 5: Guatapé

Day 6: Medellin

Today you’ll join a cooking class with a real Paisa chef. You’ll take a trip around a local market and choose the ingredients you’ll be cooking with. Back at the kitchen, the chef will show you have to make an authentic local dish. You’ll also make cocktails (yes, we’ll be drinking them).

Day 6: Medellin

Day 7: Cartagena

Fly to Cartagena in the morning. A representative will be waiting for you at the airport. Cartagena is packed with charming colonial architecture. It was the first Spanish colony on the Latin American mainland. Explore the colorful buildings and take a culinary tour of three of Cartagena’s finest restaurants. You’ll be sampling tasters along the way, of course. Enjoy the local shops and colonial architecture of the walled city of Cartagena.

Day 7: Cartagena

Day 8: Cartagena

Guided tour of the city. Discover the colonial past of Cartagena within the 16th-century walls. The walls were built by the invading Spanish to defend themselves from attacks. You’ll visit the 16th-century Castle of San Felipe de Barajas, one of the Seven Wonders of Colombia. Discover the Palace of Inquisition, colorful houses and artisan shops.

Lunch on your own and then join a rum and chocolate tasting experience and one of Cartagena’s best bars.

Day 8: Cartagena

Day 9: Cartagena

After breakfast we’ll meet the captain and spend a day island-hopping around the Rosario Islands. You can swim in the clear waters should the mood take you. We’ll be taken to the must-see bits, such as shipwrecks and swimming areas.

Day 9: Cartagena

Day 10: Cartagena

Our Colombian adventure draws to a close. After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the airport for your return flight.
