At a glance
Xigera Safari Lodge sits on Paradise Island in the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, surrounded by deep channels, papyrus swamps, and seasonal floodplains within a private 4,500-hectare concession.
The name, pronounced “kee-jera,” comes from the Pied Kingfisher that navigates the waterways around the island. The lodge was rebuilt and reopened in 2021 by the Tollman family, whose Red Carnation Hotels group drew on more than five decades of experience in hospitality to reimagine what a safari lodge could be.
The result holds Africa’s largest private collection of contemporary art in a hospitality setting, with every piece of furniture, sculpture, and ceramic commissioned specifically for the property from 80 of Africa’s most recognized designers and makers.
The lodge is fully solar powered, plastic-free in its operations, and sources produce from local farmers where possible. It is the only camp within its concession, with a maximum of 24 guests at any one time.

Every suite has been individually designed using a different set of works from the lodge’s art collection, with timber, bronze, and hand-carved wood running through the interiors.
