At a glance
Palazzo Manfredi has stood on Via Labicana since the 17th century, looking out over a stretch of Rome that most cities could only dream of. The Colosseum sits directly across the street. The ruins of Ludus Magnus, the largest gladiator training school ever discovered in the city, lie immediately outside Palazzo Manfredi.
With only 21 rooms and suites, it operates at a scale that allows for a level of service and discretion. The Colosseum is visible from the rooms, from the Michelin-starred restaurant on the roof and from the cocktail bar above.
What the hotel has built around that position is considered at every level. A Michelin-starred restaurant on the rooftop with some of the most complete views of the Colosseum of any dining room in the city. A cocktail bar recognised by the World’s 50 Best Discovery programme. A suite collection that places the ruins directly outside the window.

Highlights
- 17th-century palazzo directly across from the Colosseum in the heart of Imperial Rome
- Michelin-starred AROMA restaurant on the rooftop terrace overlooking the Colosseum
- The Court cocktail bar, recognised by the World’s 50 Best Discovery programme
Accommodation
Rooms
The 21 rooms and suites combine contemporary furnishings with works of art dating to the 16th century, hardwood oak floors and marble bathrooms throughout, with Acqua di Parma amenities in every room.
The outlook is the defining factor at Palazzo Manfredi, and the accommodation is structured accordingly. Rooms are offered across three categories.
The Master, which looks onto the courtyard, the Executive, which introduces lateral Colosseum views, and the Prestige, which brings the ruins into closer focus. All include breakfast at AROMA restaurant.
Suites
The suite collection brings the ruins into direct view. The Colosseo Suite looks out over the Colosseum, while the Ludus Magnus Suite faces the gladiator school ruins through floor-to-ceiling windows. The Family Suite is arranged across two floors with an open-plan living area, a jacuzzi and Colosseum views throughout.
Grand View Suites
Located directly next door to the main hotel, the four Grand View Suites offer the most complete Colosseum views in the property, set within rationalist architecture and minimalist interiors.
The Grand View Penthouse Suite sits at the top of the collection with a balcony overlooking the Colosseum, two King bedrooms each with a private bathroom, a spiral staircase connecting the two floors and views from every window. All Grand View Suites include the same suite amenities alongside a complimentary minibar.

Food & Drinks

AROMA
The hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, set on the rooftop terrace with the Colosseum directly below. Led by Chef Giuseppe Di Iorio, the menu reinterprets Italian cuisine through a contemporary lens, drawing on seasonal ingredients from the surrounding region. Breakfast is served here each morning, while dinner is served as the Colosseum is illuminated below.
The Court
The hotel’s cocktail bar, led by barman Matteo Zed and recognised by the World’s 50 Best Discovery programme. Positioned with Colosseum views and a serious approach to mixology, it is the natural setting for an aperitivo before dinner.
Italy
Italy is a long, narrow country running from the Alps in the north to Sicily and the Mediterranean in the south. The geography changes faster than the language. Alpine lakes (Como, Garda, Maggiore) in the north. Industrial cities, fashion and finance in Milan and Turin. The Renaissance cities of the central plain (Florence, Bologna, Siena). The capital and ancient sites in Rome. The southern coastlines of the Amalfi, Puglia and Calabria.
Our Experts
Italy is one of the best places in Europe to experience culture, food and beautiful scenery. With so much character and colour, the Amalfi Coast is a personal favourite of mine.
I never get tired of planning luxury vacations in Italy. There are so many magical cities and experiences to be enjoyed. Beaches, mountains and rolling countryside, there really is something for everyone.
Stellar service. Stellar products. Stellar people and it gets so much better when you pick up the phone and call.

Luxury Gay Matera & Puglia Tour: Caves, Masserie & Coast
Tailor-made HolidayThere are few places in Europe quite like Matera. Carved into a limestone ravine, its ancient Sassi are a maze of cave dwellings, rock-cut churches, hidden courtyards and steep lanes that seem to fold into one another.

Luxury Gay Honeymoon in Italy: Rome & Amalfi Coast
Tailor-made HolidayItaly is one of the best destinations on the planet for a honeymoon. Rome comes first: four nights in a city where ancient history and exceptional restaurants occupy the same street. Then the Amalfi Coast for five nights, where the agenda shifts to boat trips, cliff-top dinners, and endless views over the Mediterranean. The itinerary runs nine nights across two bases, with private transfers connecting every stage.

Rome’s Gay Legacy: A Luxury LGBTQ+ Tour Through the Roman Empire
Tailor-made HolidayThe Roman Empire's relationship with sexuality was fundamentally different from the morality imposed by later Christianity. Same-sex relationships existed openly among the elite, were documented in historical records, and shaped the empire's political and cultural landscape. What's often sanitised in standard history books becomes viscerally real when you stand in the actual spaces where these emperors lived, ruled, and loved. This isn't revisionist history.
