Mendoza is Argentina’s great wine country, but the appeal goes well beyond Malbec. Vineyards spread east from the Andes across a high, dry landscape, with snow-capped peaks forming the backdrop to some of South America’s best wineries.

This itinerary gives you time to explore both Luján de Cuyo and the Uco Valley, two of Mendoza’s most important wine areas. In Luján de Cuyo, visit established bodegas and taste the styles that helped put Argentine Malbec on the international map.

Further south, the Uco Valley sits at higher altitude and has become known for ambitious contemporary wineries, striking architecture and wines shaped by cooler conditions and dramatic mountain scenery.

Days are built around private tastings, winery visits and long lunches rather than rushing between cellar doors.

There is also time to enjoy Mendoza itself, from regional food and olive oil to spa treatments and a slower afternoon among the vines.

You can take Mendoza as a standalone four-day escape or extend the journey north to Iguazu Falls.

The contrast is considerable: from dry Andean wine country to subtropical rainforest, with two full days to see the falls from both the Argentine and Brazilian sides.

In detail

Day 1: Arrival in Mendoza

Arrive in Mendoza and transfer privately to your vineyard hotel. Settle in with views towards the Andes and begin with a tasting of local wines.

Keep the first evening simple. Enjoy dinner at the estate, learn a little about the region’s main grape varieties and get your bearings before the winery visits begin the following morning.

Day 1: Arrival in Mendoza

Day 2: Luján de Cuyo

Spend the day exploring Luján de Cuyo, one of the historic centers of Mendoza wine production.

Visit a selection of wineries with a private guide, meeting producers and tasting Malbec alongside other grapes increasingly important to the region. Lunch is taken at a winery, with a seasonal menu designed around local ingredients and paired wines.

Return to your hotel in the afternoon, with time for the spa, pool or simply a quiet few hours overlooking the vines.

Day 2: Luján de Cuyo

Day 3: Uco Valley Exploration

Head south to the Uco Valley, where vineyards climb higher towards the Andes and some of Mendoza’s most interesting modern wineries are concentrated.

The altitude and cooler conditions produce a different style of wine from Luján de Cuyo, while the wineries themselves range from small family-run projects to ambitious contemporary estates.

Spend the day tasting, touring cellars and stopping for a long winery lunch before returning to your hotel in the late afternoon.

Day 3: Uco Valley Exploration

Day 4: Mendoza Food & Departure

Use your final morning to look beyond the vineyards. Visit a local market, olive oil producer or food-focused estate, depending on your interests, and learn more about the ingredients that sit alongside wine in Mendoza’s regional cooking.

After lunch, transfer privately to the airport. If you are continuing to Iguazu, fly north for the second half of the journey.

Day 4: Mendoza Food & Departure

Day 5: Iguazu Falls Add-On

Fly to Iguazu and transfer to your lodge near the national park.

The shift from Mendoza is immediate. Dry vineyards and mountain air give way to dense Atlantic rainforest, humidity and the sound of tropical wildlife.

Spend the rest of the day at leisure before exploring the falls the following morning.

Day 5: Iguazu Falls Add-On

Day 6: Argentine Side of Iguazu Falls

Explore the Argentine side of Iguazu with a private guide.

The Upper and Lower Circuits give you a series of viewpoints across different sections of the falls, while the ecological train takes you towards Devil’s Throat, the most powerful section of the system.

This side is about getting close to the water, with walkways running above and alongside the cascades.

Day 6: Argentine Side of Iguazu Falls

Day 7: Brazilian Side & Departure

Cross into Brazil for a very different perspective on Iguazu.

Where the Argentine side puts you among the individual waterfalls, the Brazilian side gives you the broad panorama, with long views across the full sweep of the falls.

Day 7: Brazilian Side & Departure

Day 8: Departure

After breakfast, enjoy a private transfer from your hotel to the airport for your onward journey.

Day 8: Departure
