What: Caribbean Ambiance
Where: Las Teresitas

Why go: Occasionally the best hiding places are in the most obvious spots. Being the only beach located near Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the island’s capital city, LGBT travellers can accept a strong culture and a buzzing atmosphere nearby. Either bask in the sun, swim in pristine clear water, or take a stroll up the golden shore to a rocky idyllic cove, a popular hangout with the city’s gay and lesbian scene.

Las Tejita beach Tenerife

What: Shipwrecked Seclusion
Where: La Tejita beach

Why go: For nature-loving gay travellers, La Teljita offers a beautifully untouched beach with breath-taking scenery. With the exclusion of any main roads and built up areas, Tejita feels extremely exclusive. From bright yellow fine-grained sand to an everlasting coastline, La Tejita is one of Tenerife’s largest and longest beaches for LGBT visitors. Divided off from the rest of the beach, the section closest to Montaña Roja (an extinct volcano), is the ideal spot for naturists seeking a more private area to feel comfortable nude.

Fuerteventura

Cofete Beach Fuerteventura

What: Deserted Solitary
Where: Cofete

Why: Hidden off the beaten track, Cofete is the perfect destination if you’re looking to escape the hustle bustle. Unlike the other beaches on The Islands, Cofete is more of an area to experience gorgeous scenery. From gorgeous undulating hills; a pure white sandy beach, to an amazing view, Cofete is the ideal destination for travellers seeking that private moment with their loved one. Travellers can access the beach via an unsealed road from the port in Morro Jable.

Gran Canaria

Las Canteras Gran Canaria

Where: Diving at Playa Grande de Las Canteras
What: Adventure junkies
Where: Play Grande de Las Canteras

Why go: When not exploring the sand dunes of Maspalomas, try the north of the island. Beaches don’t have to be a place just to lounge about in. Proving one of the calmest seashores within The Canaries, travellers can swim out at low tide and discover some of the most exotic fish species. This beach is in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the island’s capital city. One of Europe’s top city beaches, and it was the original driving force of tourism in Gran Canaria until the Germans and Brits discovered Maspalomas. The capital’s gay district runs next to Las Canteras (Plaza de Farray and surrounding area). Add to that the lively atmosphere on the walkway, buzzing 24 hours a day, and masses of terrace bars, café and restaurants, and you have a perfect plan for a laid back visit to the capital city.

Lanzarote

What: Nudist beach
Where: Charo del Palo

Why go: For travellers completely comfortable in their skin, Charo De Palo village offers a naturist paradise. Either potter about the town of Mala or venture to the beach amongst other nudes alike. Unlike other beaches on The Canaries, Charo de Palo has several natural swimming holes, perfect if you’re after a more secluded area to swim. These areas are easily accessible and safe.
