A luxury gay honeymoon in Spain is an exceptional choice for LGBTQ+ travellers. As one of the world’s most visited countries, Spain offers newlywed couples the perfect blend of beach resort indulgence, historic urban escapes, stunning art and architecture, and thrilling outdoor adventures. Whether exploring Moorish palaces, enjoying the vibrant nightlife, or savouring local cuisine and wine, an LGBT honeymoon in Spain promises a dreamy and unforgettable experience.
Here at Out Of Office, we truly understand the world you live in, and the world you want to explore. Our attention to detail, exceptional service and deep understanding of both luxury travel and LGBTQ+ travel make us a fantastic choice for those looking for a travel experience where exclusivity meets inclusivity.
Spain’s progressive and welcoming atmosphere makes it a top destination for gay honeymoons. Since legalising same-sex marriage in 2005, the country has become a symbol of diversity and inclusivity. In cities like Barcelona, Madrid, and Sitges, LGBTQ+ couples can relax and fully embrace their new journey together. Madrid’s lively gay scene rivals New York and London, while Sitges is often called the European Provincetown for its beachside charm.
Home to some of Europe’s most beautiful beaches, hotels, and cities, Spain also boasts a delightful climate and exceptional food and drink. Relax on the golden sands of Costa Brava or party until dawn at Sitges' vibrant beach clubs. Wander through the medieval streets of Cadiz, then indulge in tapas paired with rich Rioja wines. Spain's cultural offerings are endless from the Prado Museum to Gaudi’s breathtaking architecture.
While the bright lights of Madrid and Barcelona are captivating, consider other enchanting destinations for your LGBT honeymoon in Spain. The southern region of Andalusia offers romantic cities like Granada and Seville, while the mountaintop views of Ronda will take your breath away. Down along the coast, you can even glimpse the lights of Tangiers across the sea in Morocco.
With its pristine beaches, historic cities, rich culture, and world-class amenities, Spain is the perfect destination for gay honeymoons. Whether you seek beachside relaxation, urban excitement, or culinary and wellness indulgence, Spain promises unforgettable memories for LGBTQ+ couples.
At Out Of Office, we specialise in combining inclusive service with exclusive travel experiences, but you can find non-LGBTQ+ specific information on Spain honeymoons by visiting honeymoons in Spain.

Over in the Gothic Quarter, you’ll find winding medieval streets packed with bars and restaurants. It was once a Roman village and it retains elements of its ancient past. From here you can take a stroll around the bustling Santa Caterina market, especially if you’re a lover of seafood.
If you’d like to head off the beaten track on your gay honeymoon to Spain, you can explore the Basque Country. The largest Basque city is Bilbao, which has a lively downtown area and hosts a floating parade during Pride. The most famous sight in Bilbao is the Guggenheim Museum. Frank Gehry designed it, and it’s one of the great modern art museums. You can also see major modern works by Anish Kapoor and Jeff Koons in the Art District.
From Bilbao, you can head to San Sebastian to continue your gay Spain honeymoon. This scenic resort town on the Bay of Biscay is surrounded by gorgeous mountainous scenery. Although San Sebastian is small, it’s home to a wide array of cultural events and festivals, not to mention a long stretch of lush beaches on the coastline. La Concha was recently voted as Europe’s best beach. What’s more, San Sebastian is home to three Michelin star restaurants.
It’s not far from La Rioja, the region that made the wine so famous. If you love wine you should definitely include it in your gay honeymoon plans, and treat yourself to some of Spain’s finest. There are over 500 wineries to explore in La Rioja.
Spain has many beautiful islands. There’s something particularly romantic about an island honeymoon. It calls to mind boutique hotels, quaint shops and secluded stretches of coastline. You can find it all in the Balearic Islands, the four largest of which are Ibiza, Menorca, Mallorca and Formentera.
As well as romance and seclusion, Ibiza is, quite notoriously, home to some of the world’s most exciting superclubs. EDM might not be the soundtrack to your dream Spanish honeymoon, but fear not, there’s far more to Ibiza than clubs. The San Antonio Sunset Strip is a dreamy setting for a romantic evening and it’s home to some chic bars and restaurants.
For a more secluded setting, take a trip to Formentera. It’s just 17 km from Ibiza and it’s ideal for romance. Formentera is far quieter – so much so that it feels like an unspoiled paradise. You can stroll the El Pilar de la Mola market and explore the restaurants at La Savina on a peaceful gay honeymoon.

Granada is a must if you’re in Andalucia on your gay honeymoon. It’s impossibly romantic. You’ll see the remains of the Moorish culture that dominated southern Spain from the 8th until the 16th-centuries. Close to the Alhambra, you’ll find ‘El Albaicín’ District, the oldest Arab district and a great spot to view the Alhambra on the hill above.
It’s just one hour and a half to drive from Malaga to Ronda in the Ronda Mountains. On your way, you can visit some quaint pueblo blancos (white villages), each boasting dramatic views of the distant coastline and Morocco’s Atlas Mountains. When you arrive in Ronda you’ll be greeted by even more dramatic views, not least from Balcón del Coño. Ronda won the hearts of both Orson Welles and Ernest Hemingway.
Soho House is a fabulous choice. Some other great hotels for a honeymoon in Barcelona include Mandarin Oriental, Casa Bonay and El Avenida Palace.
Your private balcony in a chic hotel is always a good bet. You could also take your dearest one up Mount Tibidabo if you want panoramic views in the background – skip this one if they’re scared of heights though. You could also go for a private sunset cruise with a bottle of champagne.
That would be Marbella as it’s on the southern coast and close to Africa. Tenerife comes in close second.
