Plan the perfect wedding in Mexico
Mexico is a premier destination for a gay wedding, offering full legal ceremonies for both gay and straight couples, with legal recognition of same-sex marriages nationwide including vibrant destinations like Mexico City and beachfront havens in Cancun and Puerto Vallarta. Mexico’s commitment to LGBTQ+ rights, combined with its all-inclusive resorts, picturesque settings, and favorable exchange rates, makes it an unbeatable venue for gay weddings, where couples can celebrate their love freely and extravagantly.
As a hub for LGBT travel and same-sex marriage celebrations, Mexico stands out for luxury destination weddings, where your budget stretches further, thanks to all-inclusive options at many resorts. When you think of all-inclusive vacations it can conjure slightly horrifying images of tired buffets, but that’s not the case in Mexico. The top wedding resorts we work with offer all kinds of luxury packages. So, you’ll enjoy perfect weather, a world-class resort with all the amenities you could wish for, and happy guests with unlimited food and drink options. Mexico truly provides a fantastic setting for a gay destination wedding.

Getting Legally Married In Mexico
A full legal wedding ceremony in Mexico is fairly straightforward. You will, however, need to get blood tests. If you have an STD you won’t be able to marry in Mexico. This means HIV-positive people cannot, at present, get married in Mexico. We’re hoping that this fact will change soon. The blood test has to happen in Mexico and it won’t take more than an hour. You’ll need to be in the country seven days prior to the wedding in order to have the blood test in time.
In Mexico, the option to have a beach wedding offers a distinct advantage over destinations like Bora Bora. Bora Bora is one of our most popular wedding destinations, but you have to have the legal ceremony at one of the town halls on one of the three major islands. You can then have a symbolic ceremony on the beach. Mexico not only allows for picturesque beach weddings but also provides greater flexibility in choosing the location for your legal ceremony. This flexibility, coupled with Mexico’s legal recognition of LGBT marriages, including gay and lesbian weddings, makes it an ideal destination for couples seeking a scenic and inclusive setting for their nuptials.
Where To Get Married In Mexico
Nestled on Mexico’s picturesque Caribbean coast, Cancun stands out as a premier choice for unforgettable gay weddings. This vibrant destination, celebrated as Mexico’s top tourist spot, boasts the sprawling Zona Hotelera (Hotel Zone), home to resorts offering everything from diverse dining options to exclusive beach areas, perfect for the entire wedding stay.
For those seeking a more unique and less commercialized setting, Tulum, with its boho-chic appeal and luxurious adults-only resorts, offers a serene backdrop for your nuptials. Emphasizing rustic elegance and organic materials, it’s a haven for high-end, all-inclusive wedding experiences.
Whether it’s a gay wedding in Cancun or a lesbian marriage in Tulum, Mexico’s inclusive spirit and legal support for LGBTQ+ weddings make it an idyllic destination. Opt for Cancun’s gay wedding packages or explore the romantic vistas of Tulum for a celebration that echoes your love story, making your “I dos” truly memorable.
How Gay-Friendly Is Mexico?
Mexico’s embrace of the LGBTQ+ community shines brightly in Puerto Vallarta, Latin America’s premier gay paradise nestled on the southwestern Pacific Coast. This city, a magnet for the LGBTQ+ crowd from North America and beyond, rivals the vibrant scenes of Mykonos and Sitges with its extensive array of gay bars and clubs. Puerto Vallarta’s Zona Romantica, the heart of its gayborhood, is a lively, inclusive area that celebrates diversity and love in all its forms. It boasts a massive gay scene with as many gay bars and clubs as you’ll find in Hell’s Kitchen or London’s Soho.
Beyond its bustling nightlife, Puerto Vallarta offers a slice of romantic history, once the love nest of Hollywood icons Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. The luxury and exclusivity of staying in the Elizabeth Taylor Suite at Casa Kimberly, complete with its pink-marble, heart-shaped tub, adds a touch of old-world glamour to the gay-friendly atmosphere.
With Mexico’s progressive stance on LGBTQ+ rights, including the legalization of gay marriage in various cities, it stands as a beacon of inclusivity. Whether planning a gay wedding in Mexico, seeking a destination for a lesbian marriage, or exploring LGBTQ+ weddings and marriages, Mexico offers a welcoming and vibrant setting. From Cancun’s gay wedding packages to the intimate ceremonies in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico caters to every dream.
Getting Married On Mexico’s Pacific Coast
Although the Caribbean coast is the most popular destination for a Mexican wedding, the Pacific coast is catching up. Just up the road from Puerto Vallarta you’ll find Riviera Nayarit. It’s been hailed as Mexico’s most up-and-coming destination, and is gaining popularity for gay weddings in Mexico. Amazing hotels and resorts keep popping up along Riviera Nayarit. When we visited, hotel managers boasted about the number of gay Mexico weddings they had hosted, including The W Hotel in Nayarit and the Marriott in Puerto Vallarta. It’s a beautiful part of Mexico – it’s also one of the safest parts of Mexico. You can even combine Puerto Vallarta with Riviera Nayarit, enjoying the buzzing nightlife of PV (as Americans call it), and then have your wedding on the beach in Nayarit.
