Gay Group Trip: Colombia Adventure Tour

Carb up over breakfast, as today our adventure begins! We will take a short trip to the nearby mountains where we’ll pick up our mountain bikes. We begin together, riding along the top of the mountain across stunning country roads. Along the way, we’ll enjoy activities and sights, such as delightful villages, historic landmarks and the local cuisine, prepared for us at various stops.

Once we’ve finished our bike trip, we will spend the next two nights in Gutapé. The wonderful village is known for it’s La Piedra (translating bluntly as “gigantic rock”), which has a staircase deep in the crevice of the sheer mountain face. In the evening we’ll have a welcome dinner, with complimentary drinks.

Our third day is jam-packed with adventure! Beginning with a one-hour trip out of Guatapé to Cocorna, we’ll embark on a world-class paragliding experience. Paragliding is a popular sport around Medellin due to the perfect climate conditions of warm air rising out of the valley and jaw-dropping views. Flying tandem with a pilot, you’ll soar over the landscape in an unforgettable fashion.

Paragliding isn’t the only thing Cocorna has to offer. From zip-lining and waterfall-laden hikes, there are activities aplenty to satisfy your Latin American experience. Later, we return back to Guatapé and our deluxe accommodations, where you can make the most of the massage and spa facilities before another delicious dinner.

Leaving Gutapé early, after a three-hour drive we’ll arrive at Rio Claro just in time for lunch. The spectacle of nature the Rio Claro bio-reserve offers is truly unforgettable. The reserve sits on a crystal clear river and has an outdoor adventure centre that offers, canopy tours, incredible hikes to beautiful sites, rafting and caving.

Our accommodation is a short 1km hike to Cabanas el Refugio. Perched on the cliffs, high above the river, our comfortable stay is home to extraordinary views. After our arrival, we’ll enjoy a swim or tube down the river, or take a hike to the abundance of destinations along the river. In the evening we will learn from a naturalist the ecological history of the area and an orientation at this amazing jungle refuge.

The adventure continues, with each activity starting at 9:30am at Rio Claro. Each day you have a choice of rafting the river, canopy tours, zip-lining and caving. So, whether you fancy a spelunking experience between the cave walls or a jet-setting, zip-line dive, the Rio Claro reserve has an abundance of activities for you to partake in every day,

In addition to wondrous caving experiences, we’ll take a rafting trip down the river. While not whitewater rafting, this informative tour of the gorgeous Rio Claro river is the perfect way to soak up the natural wonders of the Rio Claro reserve. Whether it’s drifting along the waters or soaring through a zip line, the activities of Rio Claro never cease to amaze.

Today is a full day of activities at the bio-reserve. If you missed something yesterday, now’s the time to do it! If you’ve already had a go at caving or zip-lining, you can rock-climb via ferrata, birdwatch the hummingbirds or visit the secluded swimming holes along the river.

Later in the evening, we will have the chance to take a sunset hike to discover the hidden dens of scorpions which glow in our special UV light, getting one last intimate glimpse at the nature before you leave the reserve.

In the morning we pack up and head back to Medellin. We’ll arrive at our 4-star hotel and have several optional activities to choose upon our afternoon return. You can cruise the local boutiques in Parque Lleras, visit one of the several outstanding museums or unwind in the hotel spa.

On our final evening we’ll dine in one of Medellin’s finest restaurants in the botanical gardens and enjoy one last drink atop of one of the tallest buildings in Medellin.

After breakfast, we’ll bid our farewells and provide you with transfers for your return flight.
