Passion in Paradise: St Lucia and Grenada Honeymoon

A slower day, built around the coastline rather than any single sight. Start with a swim before the heat sets in, then a walk through Soufriere’s waterfront market, where fishermen sell the morning’s catch alongside stalls of nutmeg, cocoa, and produce grown further up the hillside.

The afternoon is left open. Some take it at the pool, others on the beach, and a few simply sleep off the flight from the day before. There is no itinerary to fall behind on today.

Dinner is at a restaurant built into the hillside above the bay, chosen as much for the view over Soufriere as for the menu, which leans on the same produce seen at the morning market.

A guided hike partway up Gros Piton begins early, before the heat and the crowds arrive. The trail climbs steadily through a rainforest canopy, the ground underfoot changing from packed earth to loose volcanic rock as you gain height, with the view opening up in stages rather than all at once.

Back down by midday, the afternoon shifts pace entirely at the sulfur springs nearby, where volcanic mud is warmed by the same geothermal vents that shaped the mountains above. An hour spent in the mud, then a rinse in a spring-fed pool that runs noticeably cooler than the mud itself.

The rest of the evening is unplanned; most people are ready for an early night after the climb.

A private catamaran picks you up directly from the beach below your hotel this morning, no transfer required. The route traces the coast north past fishing villages and hidden coves that are difficult to reach by road, with the crew slowing wherever the view or the water is worth it.

A stop at Anse Chastanet gives an hour or so for snorkeling over one of the island’s healthiest reefs, with gear provided on board. Lunch follows, served anchored just offshore rather than back on land, with the Pitons still visible behind you for most of the afternoon.

The return sail is timed loosely around the light, so the last stretch back is often the best part of the day.

A short flight south trades St Lucia’s volcanic skyline for Grenada’s lower, greener hills within the hour. There is no need to rush the morning; the flight itself is brief enough that a late checkout still leaves plenty of time.

Your next hotel sits above Grand Anse, the island’s best-known beach, and check-in here is deliberately unhurried. The afternoon is left entirely free, a chance to settle into the second half of the trip at your own pace rather than filling the day with activity on arrival.

A morning walk through a working nutmeg estate shows Grenada’s export history still very much in use, with drying sheds, grading rooms, and workers sorting pods by hand, as they would have decades ago. A short tasting at the end covers nutmeg in forms beyond the spice rack: syrup, liqueur, and even a nutmeg ice cream unique to the island.

The afternoon returns to Grand Anse itself, two miles of sand with almost nothing built directly on it. Lunch here is slow: a late swim, a walk to the far end of the beach and back, or simply staying put under a shade tree for the rest of the day.

A morning snorkel over the Molinere-Beausejour Marine Protected Area, where a set of submerged sculptures installed over two decades ago has slowly become an artificial reef, coral and sponge now growing directly over the original figures.

After lunch, the day moves inland to the Seven Sisters waterfalls, reached by a short hike through rainforest that opens onto a series of pools connected by smaller cascades. Swimming here is expected rather than optional; most people spend an hour or more moving between the pools before heading back.

The evening is free, with dinner options ranging from the hotel itself to a short drive into St George’s for something livelier.

No itinerary today. A private stretch of beach is arranged for the two of you alone, away from Grand Anse’s main stretch, with a shade structure, loungers, and lunch brought to you rather than the other way around.

The rest of the day has no fixed plan. Some spend it entirely on that beach; others use the morning there and the afternoon back at the hotel’s pool. Either way, this is the one day on the trip built deliberately to have nothing scheduled in it.
