Eight days across the volcanic peaks, quiet rainforest, and cacao hills of St Lucia’s south and north.

The south holds the island’s signature view: the twin Pitons rising directly from the sea at Soufriere, with a working volcano and a rainforest pressing in behind them. Days here move at the pace of the terrain: a hike to a waterfall, a soak in mineral springs, a morning spent hand-rolling chocolate from beans grown a few hundred yards from where you are staying.

The north is a different register entirely: Rodney Bay’s marina towns, a coastal golf course threaded along the Cap Estate cliffs, and Pigeon Island’s ramparts looking out toward Martinique. Both halves of the island are covered, with enough time in each to settle rather than tour.

The two halves are linked by a single private transfer partway through the trip, so there is no shuttling back and forth and no morning lost to logistics.

Four nights in the south establish the pace: guided but unhurried, built around a landscape that rewards slowing down. The remaining three nights in the north open the trip back up, trading rainforest for coastline and giving the back half of the week a different rhythm entirely.

It suits couples who want a honeymoon without the scripted romance, and it suits solo travelers just as well, since nothing here depends on being paired off. Every property on this itinerary has been selected carefully, in part for its privacy: this is a trip built for anyone, LGBTQ+ or otherwise, who wants to relax without performing for anyone else.

In detail

? Don't forget that most of our itineraries can be totally customized. Our expert team will be able to talk you through all the options.

Day 1: Arrival in St Lucia

Land in the island’s south and transfer directly to the coast, where the Pitons come into view before you have finished unpacking.

Your hotel sits on a private stretch of the southwest shore, chosen as much for its seclusion as its outlook.

Unwind in the pool built into the hillside and, later, at the terrace restaurant that catches the sunset squarely between the two peaks. Settle in tonight; the itinerary proper starts tomorrow.

Day 1: Arrival in St Lucia

Day 2: Rainforest and Sulphur Springs

A guided walk through the rainforest behind Soufriere, following a trail that climbs through banana groves and stands of gommier trees before opening onto a viewpoint over both Pitons at once.

The afternoon shifts pace at the sulfur springs nearby, where volcanic mud is warmed by the same geothermal vents that shaped the mountains above.

Locals have used the mineral mud here for generations; you will use it for an hour, then rinse it off in a spring-fed pool before heading back for dinner.

Day 2: Rainforest and Sulphur Springs

Day 3: Cacao and the Rabot Estate

St Lucia grows some of the Caribbean’s oldest cacao, and a morning on a working plantation shows why…

A walk through the groves with a grower who can point out the difference between a Trinitario and a Criollo pod, followed by a hands-on session turning that morning’s harvest into your own bar of chocolate.

Lunch is built around the same ingredient, savory as often as sweet. This is not a demonstration you watch; it is one you do.

Day 3: Cacao and the Rabot Estate

Day 4: Sailing the West Coast

A private catamaran picks you up from the beach below your hotel and traces the coastline north, the Pitons receding behind you as fishing villages and hidden coves come into view.

A stop at Anse Chastanet for snorkeling over one of the island’s healthiest reefs, then lunch anchored offshore.

The crew knows this coast well enough to find the quiet spots most day tours miss.

Day 4: Sailing the West Coast

Day 5: North to Rodney Bay

A private transfer up the west coast, roughly ninety minutes, gives you a last look at the interior’s mountains before the landscape flattens into Rodney Bay’s marina towns.

Your accommodation occupies its own peninsula on the Cap Estate coast, further north again, with the afternoon left open for the beach, the pool, or simply the shift in pace between the island’s two halves.

Day 5: North to Rodney Bay

Day 6: A Round at Cap Estate

St Lucia’s only championship course sits directly along the cliffs; round here is as much about the Atlantic views from the elevated tees as the golf itself.

For those who would rather not play, the same stretch of coast has a well-marked coastal walking trail with the same views, no clubs required.

Either way, the afternoon is free for the beach.

Day 6: A Round at Cap Estate

Day 7: Pigeon Island at Sunset

Pigeon Island, once a separate islet and now joined to the mainland by a causeway, holds the ruins of an 18th-century garrison with views clear across the channel to Martinique on a good day.

A guide walks you through the fort’s history before the light turns gold, ending with a sunset picnic on the ramparts, a quieter way to close out the trip than a final resort dinner.

The following day, spend your final morning at leisure before your transfer to the airport for your flight home.
