Diving in the Caribbean

Discover some of the best dive sites on the planet

The Caribbean is one of the world’s premier diving destinations, with its crystal-clear waters, coral reefs, and an abundance of marine life. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced diver, the region’s variety of dive sites makes it a must-visit destination for underwater exploration.

When to Go Diving in the Caribbean

Diving in the Caribbean can be enjoyed year-round, but the best time to visit is typically during the dry season, from December to May. During this period, the waters are at their calmest, with excellent visibility ranging from 20 to 30 metres, making it ideal for exploring reefs, wrecks, and marine life. The water temperature remains consistently warm, averaging 26–29°C, creating a comfortable environment for divers.

While the wet season from June to November may bring some rainfall, many islands still offer great diving opportunities, especially those outside the hurricane belt. It’s also worth noting that certain marine species are more active during specific times of the year. For instance, whale sharks are often spotted in the waters around Utila (Honduras) during the spring and autumn months, while humpback whales can be seen near the Dominican Republic from January to March.
