At a glance
Experience the bluest waters in the world on an expertly curated voyage through the Society Islands of French Polynesia. From the sacred landscapes of Raiatea to the lagoons of Bora Bora, this journey goes beyond scenery, drawing on the deep sense of mana that defines these islands.
You’ll sail aboard the newly refurbished Wind Star, a five-star tall ship reserved exclusively for just 140 Source guests. Days unfold at an unhurried pace as you pass dramatic peaks and clear lagoons, with time to fully absorb the surroundings.
Two full days in Bora Bora allow space to explore the island and enjoy its world-famous beauty without feeling rushed.
This marks Source’s fourth voyage to Tahiti aboard Wind Star and reflects everything refined over time. Whether returning or joining for the first time, this journey offers a thoughtful, immersive way to experience French Polynesia at its most memorable.
More Information
French Polynesia’s relationship with gender and sexuality has never followed Western conventions, and that is not a recent development. The Mahu, individuals who occupy a third gender position in Polynesian culture, have been recognized and integrated into Tahitian society for centuries, long before European contact introduced more binary frameworks. That cultural history gives French Polynesia’s openness toward LGBTQ+ travelers a grounding that goes considerably deeper than legislation.
The legislation itself is also strong. Homosexuality has never been criminalized in French Polynesia. Same-sex marriage has been legal since France extended its 2013 Marriage for All law to its overseas territories, making French Polynesia one of the first places in the Pacific to recognize equal marriage rights. French anti-discrimination law applies across the territory, covering employment, housing, and public services.
In practice, the islands are relaxed and welcoming. The luxury resort environment that most LGBTQ+ travelers move within is entirely open, same-sex couples are received without distinction at every property we work with, and the broader Polynesian social culture is warm and inclusive in a way that reflects its own traditions rather than imported attitudes.
For LGBTQ+ travelers looking for a honeymoon or celebration trip that combines world-class luxury with a destination where they can be entirely at ease, French Polynesia is one of the strongest options anywhere in the South Pacific.
