The British monarchy continues to fascinate the world. The Queen was probably the most famous person on the planet. This itinerary will show you the major palaces and destinations associated with the royal family.

You’ll gain insights into the fascinating history of Britain, a small island that once governed a quarter of the world’s population.

In detail

Day 1: Arrival

When you arrive at the airport your driver will collect you and transfer you to your hotel. Once you’ve settled in the Royal exploration will begin.

Take a trip to Piccadilly in the heart of London and see the Royal Warrant-appointed shops. These are the shops that have supplied goods to the Royal Household for five years or more. Places like Charbonnel et Walker, the Royal chocolatier. The Queen’s favourites are the violet creams.

Just over the road you’ll find Hatchards, London’s oldest bookseller. They’ve supplied the royal family since the Regency era.

Stay local and have dinner at The Ritz, a uniquely British experience.

Day 2: London

Take a trip to Buckingham Palace to see the Changing of the Guards. Then, walk up The Mall to Trafalgar Square and head to the National Portrait Gallery, where you’ll see portraits of many of the weird and wonderful royals who’ve reigned over Britain.

Later in the afternoon, you’ll be transferred to Windsor where you’ll find Windsor Castle. The castle was built by William The Conqueror. The royal family still spend much of their time there.

If you can see the royal standard it means the Queen is in residence.

Day 3: London

Take a trip back in time and head to the Tower of London. This imposing edifice once struck fear into the hearts of Londoners. It was a jail, fortress, royal residence and it even had a menagerie.

This is where the Princes in the Tower met their untimely demise at the hands of Richard III. It’s where Anne Boleyn spent her final days and the sight of Thomas Overbury’s brutal death.

Here you can see the crown jewels.

You’ll then be driven to Hampton Court just outside London for a private tour of this royal palace of the Tudor and Stewart eras.

Day 3: London

Day 4: Edinburgh

Take an early morning train to Scotland’s capital, Edinburgh. When you arrive you’ll be driven to The Royal Yacht Britannia, the former royal yacht of the sovereign – it was decommissioned in 1997 but remains perfectly preserved as it was.

The Queen was so sad to see this ship go she shed a rare tear after it had sailed its final voyage.

Day 4: Edinburgh

Day 5: Edinburgh
