When you arrive at the airport your driver will meet you and take you to your hotel. When you’ve settled in it’ll be time to explore. From your centrally located hotel, you’ll be able to walk straight into Times Square and then head down Broadway.
With huge flashing signs overhead, vast crowds and yellow taxis surging by, you’ll get a feel for New York.
Enjoy a meal on Broadway and then head to see a show.
Take a trip to Central Park and have a stroll. So many scenes from movies are set here it can feel uncanny when you first arrive. It’s almost like you can see Woody Allen and Meryl Streep walking by.
After Central Park head to Ground Zero and visit the 9/11 Memorial. You’ll find yourself recalling where you were on that day as you remember those that lost their lives and look into the deep fountains created where the Twin Towers once stood.
Taking a ride on the free Staten Island ferry is a must. The ferry runs roughly every 15 minutes. On a clear day you’ll be able to see the Statue Of Liberty. There isn’t much in Staten Island so sail right back and admire the views of Manhattan as you stand out on deck.
When the ferry docks take a trip to the nearby UN building and enjoy a guided tour of one of the world’s great political institutions.
Spend the evening wining and dining in eternally cool – although no longer bohemian – Greenwich Village. You could even take a short walk to the Stonewall Inn, the birthplace of the gay liberation movement.
After breakfast head to the Brooklyn Bridge and make your way across. Brooklyn is an iconic borough of New York. Brooklyn natives understand it to be a state of mind as much as a place. Have lunch at one of the iconic Jewish delis, such as Katz’s. The brisket is so good!
In Brooklyn you’ll join a New York Gospel tour in the buzzing Brooklyn Heights neighbourhood. Gospel is one of America’s great cultural traditions. You’ll get to see a performance at the famous Brooklyn Tabernacle.
Alternatively, you could join a 3-hour walking tour of New York’s LGBT history. Beginning in Washington Square, you’ll visit the oldest gay bar in town the Oscar Wilde Memorial Bookshop and the Stonewall Inn. Your guide will explain the history of the Stonewall uprising, which started the gay liberation movement. You’re walking tour draws to a close at a popular piano bar, where Broadway stars can often be heard belting out the classics.
Head to the Empire State Building and make your way to the top. It’s a must if you’re in New York. Then it’ll be time to experience a bit of culture. If you’re a book lover head to The Morgan Library & Museum. Or, if you’re a music lover, head to Carnegie Hall where many legendary performances have taken place, including Judy Garland’s famous comeback gig.
The real cultural hub of New York is the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Here you’ll find some of the most innovative exhibitions on the planet. This is also where the star-studded Met Galas take place.
If you like shopping as much as we do head to Madison Avenue, where you’ll find many of the world’s most exclusive shops.
In the evening head to Hell’s Kitchen and experience the excellent cuisine and nightlife.
Wake up bright and early as you’ll be getting a train to the capital city, Washington DC. This is, of course, the political heart of the world’s most powerful country. You may feel like you’re walking around the set of House Of Cards.
When you’ve checked into your hotel take a trip to the White House. The Washington Monument and Jefferson Memorial are also worth seeing.
In the evening wine and dine at Rose’s Luxury on Capitol Hill.
Start your day with brunch at Ambar in Capitol Hill – a Serbian restaurant that is one of our favourites with incredible plates. Then enjoy a tour of the US Capitol Building, where you’ll learn about the complex inner workings of the US government.
After the tour, you can head to the National Air & Space Museum. This is, after all, the country that put a man on the moon.
In the evening you can head for a stroll around the trendy district of Georgetown. Evening at leisure.
DC has some of the world’s best museums. The Smithsonian is made of 17 museums, galleries and even a zoo. Entry is free to all of the museums.
After lunch, enjoy an afternoon at leisure. As the sun sets, head to the Lincoln Memorial for some excellent views.
For your last night enjoy a spot of fine dining at a top restaurant – such as Metier.
On your last day a private driver will transfer you to your hotel for your return flight.
