? Our group trips are a great chance to travel with others. We also recommend adding in a few extra nights tailor-made to ensure you build the perfect itinerary.

A brand-new ship, an all-inclusive fare, and seven days sailing through some of the most scenic stretches of Europe.

The Rhine has been drawing travelers for centuries, and the reason is visible from the water: vineyard-covered slopes above Mainz, castle ruins rising above the gorge, the Franco-German character of Strasbourg shifting the mood as you cross from one culture into another.

This gay Rhine River cruise runs from Frankfurt to Basel each October, catching the region as summer crowds thin and the riverside landscapes turn. Baden-Baden brings grand spa culture and one of the great casino towns in Europe. Heidelberg offers one of the most celebrated castle ruins on the continent.

Breisach sits at the edge of the Black Forest with some of the best wine country in Germany on its doorstep.

The new Transcend cruise ship launches in 2026 with some of the largest standard cabins on any European river cruise vessel.

All meals, drinks, guided excursions, and onboard entertainment are included in the fare.

France legalized same-sex marriage in 2013, banned conversion therapy in 2022, and has comprehensive anti-discrimination protections covering employment, housing and public services.

Transgender travelers can update legal documents without surgical requirements. The legal framework is among the most progressive in Europe and the social reality broadly matches it.

Paris has one of the most established gay neighborhoods in the world in the Marais, and Pride draws hundreds of thousands to the capital each June. Lyon, Marseille and Nice all have active scenes of their own.

The Côte d’Azur has a long history as an LGBTQ+ destination, with a relaxed and well-traveled international crowd that has made it welcoming by default for well over a century. France’s attitude toward LGBTQ+ travelers is matter-of-fact throughout, which is exactly what it should be. Rural areas, as elsewhere, can be more conservative.

In detail

? Don't forget that most of our itineraries can be totally customized. Our expert team will be able to talk you through all the options.

Day 1: Arrival in Frankfurt

Your gay Rhine River cruise begins in Frankfurt, where medieval old-town streets and a sleek modern skyline meet along the Main River. Spend the morning exploring at your own pace before boarding opens at noon.

The ship officially welcomes guests at 4pm. Unpack, order your first drink, and watch the city ease past as you settle into your floating home for the week. The evening kicks off with a welcome reception and a live performance before you set sail south toward Mainz.

Day 1: Arrival in Frankfurt

Day 2: Mainz

You wake up in Mainz, one of Germany’s oldest cities, where Roman history and half-timbered streets line a quietly beautiful stretch of the Rhine. A guided city tour takes you through the old town and along the riverfront, with the afternoon free to linger over a Riesling or two in one of the wine bars the region is famous for.

The ship stays docked throughout the day, so it’s easy to come and go at your own pace before returning for another relaxed evening on board.

Day 2: Mainz

Day 3: Heidelberg

Heidelberg is one of Germany’s most photogenic cities, its forested hills and castle ruins reflected in the Neckar River below. Today is yours to explore independently. Wander the Altstadt, climb to the castle for panoramic views, or find a riverside cafe and stay there.

Your trip leaders will be heading out too, so there’s always the option of a casual group explore if you’d prefer some company without a formal itinerary.

Day 3: Heidelberg

Day 4: Baden-Baden

The ship brings you to Baden-Baden, an elegant spa town at the edge of the Black Forest with grand architecture, manicured gardens, and a long tradition of drawing Europe’s most discerning travelers. A guided tour covers the town’s history, from its Roman bathing roots to its heyday as a playground for European high society.

After the tour, the afternoon is yours. There are world-class spas if you want to lean into the local culture, or simply a good coffee and a slow walk through beautiful streets.

Day 4: Baden-Baden

Day 5: Strasbourg

Crossing into France, your gay river cruise docks at Strasbourg, where German and French influences have merged into something entirely their own. Half-timbered houses, winding canals, and the storybook lanes of the Petite France district make it one of the most beautiful cities in Alsace.

A guided tour sets the scene, followed by free time to explore further, find lunch somewhere good, and browse the local shops before returning to the ship as it continues south.

Day 5: Strasbourg

Day 6: Breisach

Small and unhurried, Breisach sits above the Rhine surrounded by rolling vineyards and offers a quieter, more local perspective on life along the river. Wander the compact old town, climb to the cathedral for views across into France, or settle onto a terrace with a glass of local wine.

Your trip leaders will be out and about if you’d like company, and the ship is close by whenever you’re ready to head back for one of your final evenings on board.

Day 6: Breisach

Day 7: Basel

Your gay Rhine River cruise ends in Basel, a vibrant Swiss city where Switzerland, France, and Germany converge at the water’s edge. After a final breakfast on board, disembarkation takes place by 10am.

A group transfer to Basel’s central station is included for those continuing by train. Whether you’re heading home or extending your trip further into Switzerland, Basel is a fitting and beautiful place to say goodbye to the Rhine.

Day 7: Basel
