From Aruba to Mustique, Discover the Caribbean islands with the most gay-friendly beaches
The Caribbean is one of the best beach destinations in the world. The many islands that make up the Caribbean have distinctive beaches, some packed with tourists and others are quieter and more exclusive. Some Caribbean beaches are also more gay-friendly than others.
Gay rights in the Caribbean vary from island to island. Some islands are independent countries – like Barbados – and others are overseas dependencies – like Aruba. In this article, we’ll introduce you to the most gay-friendly beaches on the most gay-friendly Caribbean islands.

Eagle Beach – Aruba 🇦🇼
Aruba is one of the most LGBTQ+-friendly islands in the Caribbean, and Eagle Beach is its crown jewel. Consistently ranked among the world’s best beaches, it has soft white sand, crystal-clear waters, and a relaxed, welcoming vibe. While Aruba doesn’t have an explicitly “gay beach,” Eagle Beach is popular with LGBTQ+ travelers, especially near Manchebo Beach Resort, which is always a popular hotel for inclusive Caribbean vacations.
As Aruba is a Dutch overseas territory, it enjoys the same liberal laws as the Netherlands. Aruba celebrates is LGBTQ+ inclusive year-round, with same-sex marriage recognized and an annual Pride celebration in Oranjestad.

Orient Bay – St. Martin 🇫🇷
Located on the French side of St. Martin, Orient Bay is one of the Caribbean’s most famous gay-friendly beaches. This clothing-optional beach has a European feel, complete with beach clubs, water sports, and lively bars. The far end of the beach is unofficially the LGBTQ+ section, where gay travelers and naturists mingle freely.
LGBTQ+ Tip: Check out Kakao Beach Club and Bikini Beach, two gay-friendly spots where you can buy a drink and unwind in the sun. St. Martin’s French side is LGBTQ+-friendly, while the Dutch side (Sint Maarten) is slightly more conservative.

Condado Beach – San Juan, Puerto Rico 🇵🇷
Puerto Rico is one of the most LGBTQ+-friendly places in the Caribbean, with same-sex marriage, anti-discrimination laws, and a gay nightlife scene. Condado Beach, right in San Juan, is the go-to gay beach, with plenty of luxury hotels, bars, and clubs nearby. The section in front of the Atlantic Beach Hotel is the most popular area for LGBTQ+ travelers to sunbathe, swim, and socialize.
As an unincorporated U.S. territory, Puerto Rico isn’t the 51st state but it is technically part of the U.S. As Puerto Rico is governed by U.S. law, it’s perhaps the most gay-friendly destination in the Caribbean.
LGBTQ+ Tip: After a day at the beach, head to La Placita de Santurce for San Juan’s best LGBTQ+ nightlife, with drag shows, dance parties, and open-air bars.

Little Beach – St. John, U.S. Virgin Islands 🇺🇸
The U.S. Virgin Islands are becoming increasingly LGBTQ+-friendly, and St. John’s Little Beach is one of its most secluded and peaceful spots. A short hike from Salomon Beach, Little Beach is an unofficial gay-friendly beach where you can enjoy privacy, calm waters, and stunning nature.
LGBTQ+ Tip: The U.S. Virgin Islands have anti-discrimination laws protecting LGBTQ+ travelers. The nearby town of Cruz Bay has welcoming bars and boutique hotels that cater to LGBTQ+ visitors.
Playa Delfines – Cancún, Mexico 🇲🇽
Riviera Maya is the place to be on Mexico’s Caribbean coast. Cancun is the most tourist-friendly part of the country. It’s packed with luxury resorts. The sprawling Zona Hotelera is a district that’s comprised – as the name suggests –...We Suggest...
Riviera Maya: The Out Of Office Collection
Tailor-Made Vacation
While technically in Mexico, Cancún is a hugely popular destination for LGBTQ+ travelers to the Caribbean. Playa Delfines is one of Cancún’s best beaches, with soft sand and immaculate blue waters. Unlike some of the livelier beaches in Cancun, Playa Delfines has a more relaxed vibe. It’s not an official gay beach, but LGBTQ+ travelers often gather near the colorful “Cancún” sign for photos and sunbathing.
Naturally, Cancun is one of the most destinations in the Americas for luxury, all-inclusive hotels. Most of the hotels have their own beaches, but we always like to take a day trip to Playa Delfines.

Grand Anse Beach – Grenada 🇬🇩
Grenada is emerging as one of the more LGBTQ+-friendly Caribbean islands, and Grand Anse Beach is its most famous stretch of sand. This two-mile-long beach has turquoise waters and incredible sunsets. The water here is gentle and ideal for swimming, while the backdrop of green hills and colorful fishing boats adds to its Instagram-perfect charm.
LGBTQ+ Tip: Grenada decriminalized same-sex activity in 2022, making it one of the latest Caribbean nations to improve LGBTQ+ rights.

Mambo Beach – Curaçao 🇨🇼
Curaçao is one of the most LGBTQ+-friendly islands in the Caribbean, and Mambo Beach is a top spot for gay travelers. It’s a lively, trendy beach lined with restaurants, shops, and beach clubs. Both Curaçao and Aruba are considered to be the most gay-friendly islands in the Caribbean. While Aruba has more luxury resorts and amenities, Curaçao has more of a rustic charm that feels more authentically Caribbean.
LGBTQ+ Tip: Curaçao hosts an annual Pride festival, and places like Cabana Beach and MOOD Beach are gay-friendly hotspots.

Macaroni Beach – Mustique 🇻🇨
Mustique is an ultra-exclusive private island that attracts a limited number of high-flying travelers. It’s known as a playground for A-listers and royals. This tiny island has seen its fair share of decadent parties; the kind of parties Mick and Bianca Jagger used to attend.
Macaroni Beach is widely considered the best beach on Mustique. Unlike many Caribbean beaches lined with resorts and beach bars, Macaroni Beach is completely unspoiled, with no commercial development—just pure natural beauty.
The beach is located on the eastern, Atlantic-facing side of the island, meaning the waves can be stronger and more suited for body surfing rather than calm swimming. However, there’s a natural rock pool at one end of the beach where you can take a dip in calmer waters. Since Mustique is a private island, Macaroni Beach is never crowded, giving it greater luxury appeal.
LGBTQ+ Tip: Mustique is an exclusive island with privacy being the biggest draw. While the island itself follows the laws of St. Vincent and the Grenadines (where same-sex activity was decriminalized in 2019), Mustique’s private, ultra-luxury atmosphere means LGBTQ+ travelers can enjoy a worry-free, discreet beach getaway.
