Ulagalla is comprised of 20 chalets over 58 acres of land. The area is rich in wildlife, particularly birds. At the centre of the property is a former chieftain’s mansion. Half of the energy powering Ulagalla derives from a solar farm. This is a truly unique hotel in Anuradhapura.
The central mansion was once the most noble seat in this part of Sri Lanka. Fully renovated, the house has a restaurant, bar and pool surrounded by elegant gardens.

Whilst the legal situation for LGBTQ+ people in Sri Lanka is less than ideal, travellers to the country will find a different reality as the majority of resorts and hotels provide safe haven for foreign queer people. Whilst some discretion is advised, Sri Lanka is an incredibly popular gay travel destination.
Accommodation
The Deluxe Ulagalla Villa offers 21,000 sq feet of natural beauty. Through the foyers you’ll a spacious bedroom with dressing space and a wonderful bathroom. The living area opens onto a 700 fq ft deck with day beds, a second bathroom and a private plunge pool. You’ll be surrounded  by green forests and paddy fields.
All villas come with LED TV, movies on demand, vanity counters, coffee makers and free wi-fi.
This large villa has two bedrooms and a spacious dining and living area. With 180 glass walls you’ll have incredible views of the surrounding rice paddies. A private length pool is an added luxury.
There are 19 pool villas and each one is over 850 square feet. They offer panoramic glass-wall views of the landscape. You’ll also have a deck and a plunge pool.
