After breakfast, you’ll set off to explore the Engadin – a long valley in the Swiss Alps. Around the holiday and spa resort of Scuol – where mineral water bubbles from the village fountain – stretches an unspoilt landscape of national-park quality, you’ll find authentic Engadin holiday villages that have managed to retain their traditional identity and are proud to show guests their rich Romansh culture.

Arriving in Guarda, you’ll walk the Schellenursli trail following in the footsteps of one of the most popular children’s stories in Switzerland. The Schellenursli Trail in Guarda leads from Salastrains to the Heidi hut. The trail tells the story using pictures and wood carvings and the scenery along the way is enchanting – as you might expect of a trail devoted to such a delightful story.

Tonight you can stay in either Guarda or Lavin.

Today you’ll take a guided 10 mile/16km hike up Piz Clünas. Your 4-5 hour hike will offer you stunning views from the top to the sweeping valley below. The spectacular high-altitude hike gives you breathtaking views of the Engadin Dolomites.

The following day, you’ll take on a more complicated hike. Walking 14km up steep slopes this is a long and demanding, but rewarding, mountain walk in the 100-year-old Swiss National Park, the first protected reserve in the Alps.

After the walk, you’ll take the train to Pontresina where you’ll check in to Hotel Müller, a mountain lodge ideal for a well deserved relaxing evening in an idyllic mountain scenery.

The next day, you’ll hike to Alp Muot Selvas. It’s not just a place with great scenic charm and many possibilities for leisure and culture, it is also the starting point for one of the most beautiful, southern valleys of the Engadine, the Fex Valley.

Today it’s time to head to the stunning Lake Como. Staying at the beautiful Villa d’Este, a former 16th-century princely residence, surrounded by a 25-acre park, you’ll find more than just a hotel. The luxury and magnificence of a bygone era remains intact. Upon emerging from the revolving doors you feel the cares of the modern world slip away and the warm greetings of the staff make you feel at home.

The 152 rooms, equipped with every comfort, are all differently and elegantly furnished with antiques, paintings and vintage prints, silks, brocades, velvets of rare preciousness and luxurious marble bathrooms. Terraces, balconies and large windows take in the magnificent views of Lake Como which, along with Villa D’Este’s park and gardens, is the main feature of the beauty that surrounds guests.
