Arguably one of the most vivacious countries in the world, Brazil is no wallflower when it comes to luxury travel. Rio de Janeiro alone commands attention with its iconic beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema, the towering Christ the Redeemer statue atop Mount Corcovado, and, of course, the world-famous annual Carnival, an extravaganza of color, music, and ornate costumes.
Here at Out Of Office, we truly understand the world you live in, and the world you want to explore. Our attention to detail, exceptional service and deep understanding of both luxury travel and LGBTQ+ travel make us a fantastic choice for those looking for a travel experience where exclusivity meets inclusivity.
For those seeking luxury trips to Brazil, this larger-than-life nation serves up an endless feast for the senses. Beyond the bustling cities, discover the raw beauty of Iguazu Falls’ thundering cascades or explore the emerald stretches of the Amazon rainforest. Adventurers can immerse themselves in Brazil’s natural wonders with activities like hiking Chapada Diamantina’s dramatic valleys, snorkeling the coastal reefs of Bahia, or embarking on private riverboat cruises along the Amazon’s mysterious waterways.
Brazil’s cultural wealth is just as enticing. Dance to the frenetic beat of samba in Rio’s electric street parties, and immerse yourself in the Afro-Brazilian heritage found in the colonial cities of Salvador and Olinda. Explore the rich traditions of indigenous communities deep within the Amazon Basin, offering travelers an authentic cultural experience. Enjoy everything from smoky churrascarias to the world-renowned caipirinha cocktails as Brazil’s diverse culinary delights captivate your palate.
Yet, luxury Brazil vacations go beyond nature and culture. Stay in beautifully crafted eco-lodges nestled in the heart of the Amazon, indulge in luxury beachfront resorts along the stunning coastlines, or relax in stylish colonial pousadas and high-end hotels in Rio and São Paulo. Whether it’s lounging on a sun-drenched beach or embarking on an exclusive Amazonian adventure, luxury travel in Brazil ensures your trip is a seamless blend of opulence and unforgettable experiences.

Contact usBrazil is the largest country in South America and the fifth largest in the world, covering an area bigger than the continental United States. It borders every South American country except Chile and Ecuador, and its geography spans Amazon rainforest, cerrado savannah, the Pantanal wetlands, and over 7,000 kilometres of Atlantic coastline.
Rio de Janeiro is the most iconic Brazilian city, set between mountains and ocean in one of the world’s great natural harbours. The beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema are as famous as any on earth, Christ the Redeemer watches over the city from the summit of Corcovado, and Carnival in February transforms Rio into the largest street party on the planet. New Year’s Eve on Copacabana, with fireworks over the water and millions of people dressed in white, is one of South America’s great annual spectacles.
São Paulo is Brazil’s commercial capital and largest city, with a restaurant and nightlife scene that rivals any in Latin America. The city’s cultural institutions, including the São Paulo Museum of Art and the Pinacoteca, are among the best on the continent.
Beyond the cities, Iguazu Falls on the Argentina border is one of the natural wonders of the world. The Amazon, accessed most easily through Manaus, offers river cruises, jungle lodges and wildlife encounters that are available nowhere else on earth. The northeastern coast, the beaches of Bahia and the colonial towns of Paraty and Ilha Grande add further variety to a country that consistently rewards those who go beyond the obvious itinerary.
Brazil uses the Brazilian real, operates on BRT (UTC-3 for most of the country), and Portuguese is the official language, though English is spoken in luxury properties and major tourist areas.
Brazil is one of the most important LGBTQ+ destinations in the world. Same-sex marriage has been legal nationwide since 2013, and in 2019 the Supreme Court criminalised homophobia and transphobia, categorising them as forms of racism under Brazilian law. The legal framework is among the most progressive in Latin America.
São Paulo hosts the world’s largest Pride parade, drawing millions of participants each year to one of the great annual celebrations of LGBTQ+ culture anywhere on earth. Rio’s Carnival has always had a strong LGBTQ+ presence at its heart, and Ipanema’s Posto 9 is one of South America’s most celebrated gay beaches. The nightlife scenes in both cities are extensive, diverse and world-class.
It is worth noting that Brazil’s political landscape has shifted in recent years, and attitudes in rural areas and some regions remain conservative. The legal protections are strong but the lived experience varies depending on where you are in a country of this size. Within the major cities and the luxury travel circuit, however, Brazil is consistently one of the most open and welcoming destinations in the Americas for LGBTQ+ travelers.
Brazil’s scale is the first thing to understand when planning a trip. It is a continent-sized country and the distances between its best experiences are enormous. Rio to the Amazon is a four-hour flight. Iguazu Falls sits at the far western edge of the country, closer to Buenos Aires than to São Paulo. Getting the most out of Brazil means building an itinerary that uses domestic flights intelligently, combines the right regions for the time available, and doesn’t underestimate how long it takes to get between places.
Local knowledge matters more in Brazil than in most destinations. The right neighbourhood for your hotel in Rio makes a significant difference to how the city feels. Knowing which areas to avoid, which experiences require advance planning and which operators are genuinely worth using takes time to learn. Iguazu Falls is one of the great natural wonders of the world and deserves proper time on both the Brazilian and Argentine sides, which requires coordination that isn’t as straightforward as it looks on a map.
Out Of Office has the local knowledge and relationships to make Brazil work as a luxury trip. We build itineraries that combine Rio, São Paulo, Iguazu and the Amazon in sequences that make geographic sense, select hotels based on location, quality and safety, and ensure the logistics of a complex multi-destination trip are handled before you travel.
For LGBTQ+ travelers, we also know the destinations, properties and experiences where you will feel most genuinely at home.
Rio is one of the great cities of the world, and its setting is unmatched. Mountains drop directly into the ocean, the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema stretch for miles along the Atlantic, and Christ the Redeemer watches over the whole thing from the summit of Corcovado. The city moves to its own rhythm: beach culture in the morning, lunch that runs into the afternoon, samba in Lapa that doesn’t get started until midnight. Carnival in February transforms Rio into the largest street party on earth, but the city is compelling year-round. Ipanema’s Posto 9 is one of South America’s most celebrated gay beaches, and the broader culture is open and celebratory in a way that makes Rio consistently welcoming for LGBTQ+ travelers.
Iguazu is one of the great natural wonders of the world and among the most dramatic single experiences in South America. The falls span nearly three kilometres along the Brazil-Argentina border, with 275 individual cascades dropping up to 80 metres into the gorge below. The Brazilian side offers the best panoramic views across the full width of the falls. The Argentine side provides closer access to individual cascades and the Devil’s Throat, the most powerful section of the system. Seeing both sides properly requires at least two days and coordination across two countries, but the effort is entirely justified.
The Amazon covers more than half of Brazil in the largest tropical rainforest on earth. It is a place of extraordinary scale and biodiversity, where pink river dolphins swim through flooded forests, macaws cross the canopy overhead and the river systems run so deep into the interior that some tributaries remain largely unexplored. The experience is most accessible through Manaus, the Amazon’s largest city, from where river cruises and jungle lodges fan out into the surrounding wilderness. The dry season from June to November offers the best wildlife viewing and easier access to remote areas. A meaningful Amazon experience requires at least four to five days.
Brazil’s luxury hotel offering is strong in its major cities and improving rapidly, but it requires knowing where to look. Rio has several exceptional properties, concentrated in Ipanema and Leblon rather than the more commercial stretches of Copacabana, with a handful of design-led boutique hotels that offer direct beach access and genuine quality of service.
São Paulo’s luxury scene is more corporate in character but has excellent five-star options in the Jardins neighbourhood. Beyond the cities, the picture is more varied. The Amazon has a small number of genuinely outstanding eco-lodges that combine serious comfort with remote wilderness settings, but they sit alongside a much larger number of operations that don’t meet the same standard. Iguazu has good options on both the Brazilian and Argentine sides, though the best properties book well in advance.
Brazil also has a less obvious luxury coastal circuit that rewards those who know about it. Trancoso and Itacaré in Bahia offer boutique beach properties in settings that feel genuinely remote, a world away from the urban beaches of Rio. Fernando de Noronha, the protected island archipelago off the northeastern coast, is one of Brazil’s most exclusive destinations, with strict visitor limits and some of the best diving in the Atlantic.
Out Of Office knows where the genuine luxury sits in Brazil and where the marketing overpromises. We select properties based on direct knowledge rather than star ratings, and build itineraries that access the best of the country without the guesswork.
From the US, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo both receive direct flights from Miami, New York and other major East Coast cities in around nine to ten hours. LATAM, American and United cover the main routes, with São Paulo’s Guarulhos airport serving as the primary hub for onward connections within Brazil. Los Angeles and other West Coast cities typically require a connection, adding two to three hours to the journey.
From the UK, São Paulo is around eleven to twelve hours direct from London Heathrow. British Airways and LATAM both operate the route. Rio de Janeiro is slightly shorter at around ten to eleven hours, with direct services available from London. Connecting via Lisbon on TAP is worth considering for competitive fares and a smooth connection.
Once in Brazil, domestic flights are essential. The country is the size of a continent and the distances between its best experiences are not manageable by road or rail for most itineraries. Rio to Manaus is four hours by air. São Paulo to Iguazu is two hours. LATAM and Gol operate the main domestic routes and flying business class domestically is affordable by international standards and worth considering for longer legs.
