At a glance
Mexico City's history and the Riviera Maya's coastline, woven into one itinerary.
This ten-day journey opens in Mexico City, a capital that pairs its Aztec and colonial layers with one of Latin America's most established LGBTQ+ scenes. Days are spent in the Zocalo and along Paseo de la Reforma, tracing the city's history through the National Palace's murals and the ruins of the Templo Mayor, tucked just behind the cathedral.

Evenings shift to a different register. Zona Rosa, the city's LGBTQ+ district, holds its bars, restaurants, and easy, unhurried nightlife, while Condesa and Roma Norte offer a quieter version of the same welcome, with tree-lined streets, art deco buildings, and some of the capital's best restaurants tucked into converted townhouses.
A short drive from the capital, the pyramids of Teotihuacan offer a different kind of scale entirely. The Avenue of the Dead runs between the Pyramid of the Sun and the Pyramid of the Moon, past the Temple of Quetzalcoatl and its carved stone serpents, and a private guide brings the site's history into focus before the crowds arrive later in the day.
From there, the trip trades stone for sand. A short flight delivers you to the Riviera Maya, where the landscape shifts from high desert plateau to the turquoise edge of the Caribbean Sea, and the pace of the trip slows to match it.
The Riviera Maya's beaches sit against some of Mexico's clearest water, and the coast's resorts range from adults-only retreats to family-friendly properties, all within reach of Tulum's cliffside ruins and the cenotes running beneath the peninsula. A day trip to Chichen Itza is easily arranged for those who want one more piece of ancient history before the trip winds down into pure coastline.

Day by day
This is a sample plan, not a fixed departure. Days can be added, removed or reordered, and almost every client changes something. Prices are an entry-level guide; your quote will be exact.
Day 1: Mexico City
Land in Mexico City, where a private driver meets you and makes the transfer into the historic center.
The rest of the day is unstructured and best spent adjusting to the altitude and the pace of the capital.
A short walk from the hotel usually leads to Colonia Roma or Condesa, both known for their tree-lined streets, art deco architecture, and a concentration of some of the city’s best small restaurants.
An early dinner here, followed by a quiet evening, is the easiest way to arrive.
Day 2: Teotihuacan
Day two begins early, with a private guide leading you out to Teotihuacan before the site fills with visitors.
Walking the Avenue of the Dead as the morning light hits the Pyramid of the Sun is a different experience from the midday version most travelers see, and the Temple of Quetzalcoatl, with its carved stone serpents, is worth the extra time to take in properly.
Lunch is often taken nearby, in a restaurant built into the volcanic rock, before the return drive to the city in the afternoon.
Day 3: Mexico City
Day three turns fully to the capital. The morning is spent in the historic center: the Zocalo, the National Palace and its Diego Rivera murals, and the ruins of the Templo Mayor, tucked just behind the cathedral.
In the afternoon, a visit to Coyoacan and the Frida Kahlo Museum offers a quieter, more residential side of the city, with cobblestone streets and courtyard cafes.
As evening falls, Zona Rosa, the city’s LGBTQ+ district, holds its bars, restaurants, and easy, unhurried nightlife, and makes for a natural way to close out the Mexico City portion of the trip.
Day 4: Mexico City to Cancun
A short flight takes you from the altitude of Mexico City down to Cancun, on the Caribbean coast, where a private driver meets you for the onward transfer to your Riviera Maya hotel.
The shift in landscape, and in pace, is immediate: the high desert plateau gives way to jungle and turquoise water within a couple of hours of leaving the capital, and the drive south from Cancun follows the coastline the rest of the way.
The remainder of the day is best spent adjusting to the coast, whether that means the beach, the pool, or simply resting after an early departure.
Day 5 to 10: Riviera Maya
The remaining days on the coast are shaped almost entirely around your preferences.
A day trip to Chichen Itza is easily arranged for those who want one more piece of ancient history before the trip settles into pure coastline, and a swim in one of the region’s cenotes, the freshwater sinkholes beneath the peninsula, pairs naturally with the same day.
Tulum, with its cliffside ruins set directly above the Caribbean Sea, is close enough for a half-day visit, and its beach clubs and relaxed restaurant scene make for an easy overnight stop. For those who prefer to stay closer to the Riviera Maya hotel, the beach and reef are enough on their own.
