At a glance

Thailand is now one of the most exciting places in Asia for a gay wedding and honeymoon. Same-sex couples can legally marry here, while the country already has everything you would want around the wedding itself: exceptional hotels, serious service, beautiful ceremony settings, great food and some of Asia’s most established LGBTQ+ destinations.

This trip takes you from Bangkok to Chiang Mai and Koh Samui, combining the wedding with a proper luxury journey through Thailand rather than treating the ceremony as a standalone event.

Begin in Bangkok with private touring, excellent restaurants and time to enjoy one of Asia’s biggest gay scenes. Then fly north to Chiang Mai, where we can arrange a traditional Lanna-style wedding ceremony, incorporating northern Thai customs and a private blessing.

After the wedding, the honeymoon begins properly. Spend time in the countryside around Chiang Mai before flying south to Koh Samui, where private villas, beachfront dining, yacht days and some of Thailand’s best resorts provide a completely different pace.

Private drivers, guides, photographers and special experiences are arranged throughout. And because every wedding is personal, the ceremony itself can be adapted around how traditional, private or elaborate you want it to be.

It is a wedding, honeymoon and Thailand trip in one, built specifically for a gay couple.

Day by day

?

This is a sample plan, not a fixed departure. Days can be added, removed or reordered, and almost every client changes something. Prices are an entry-level guide; your quote will be exact.

Day 1: Bangkok

Arrive in Bangkok with fast-track airport assistance before your private transfer to the hotel.

The first day is deliberately easy. Settle in, recover from the flight and then head out for drinks and dinner overlooking the city.

Bangkok is also home to one of Asia’s largest gay scenes, so if you want to start the trip with a night out, we can point you toward the places worth knowing rather than leaving you to work it out when you arrive.

Day 2: Bangkok

Spend the morning exploring Bangkok’s historic side with a private guide.

Visit Wat Pho before continuing to the Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha, with timings arranged to make the experience as seamless as possible.

Later, take to the Chao Phraya River and the quieter canals of Thonburi by private boat.

In the evening, explore Bangrak, one of the city’s best areas for food, with a guide who can take you beyond the obvious restaurant circuit.

Day 3: Bangkok

See Bangkok from a completely different angle with a private helicopter flight above the city and Chao Phraya River.

The rest of the afternoon is free before dinner at the Mandarin Oriental, reached by boat across the river.

Bangkok can be quite full-on, so having a slower afternoon between private experiences makes the itinerary much more enjoyable.

Day 4: Chiang Mai

Fly north to Chiang Mai, where a private transfer will take you to your hotel.

Later, explore the old city and several of Chiang Mai’s important temples before heading up to Doi Suthep as the day cools down.

A private blessing can also be arranged here ahead of the wedding, giving you a quieter introduction to the traditions that will form part of the following day.

Day 5: Chiang Mai Wedding Ceremony

Today is the wedding, held in a traditional northern Thai teak house surrounded by gardens and dressed with flowers for the ceremony.

The day draws on Lanna wedding traditions, giving you something far more distinctive than simply recreating a Western ceremony overseas. You can wear traditional northern Thai clothing, take part in a ceremonial procession with offerings, and receive a private blessing from a Buddhist monk. The ceremony also includes the traditional wrist-tying ritual, in which white threads are tied around your wrists to symbolize good fortune and a strong union.

For a gay couple, there is something particularly special about celebrating these traditions in a country where same-sex couples can now legally marry. The ceremony can be shaped around the two of you, without forcing the day into traditional bride-and-groom roles.

We can also arrange the practical details around it, including flowers, styling, photography, private transport and any additional celebrations you want afterward.

Following the ceremony, return to the hotel for a private lunch featuring khao soi, Chiang Mai’s signature northern Thai dish, before keeping the rest of the afternoon deliberately free.

Day 6: Chiang Mai Honeymoon Shoot

Keep the day after the wedding relaxed.

A professional photographer can join you for a private shoot outside the city, using the countryside around Chiang Mai rather than turning the day into a formal studio session.

We can arrange lunch somewhere private afterward, then leave the rest of the afternoon free.

Day 7: Chiang Mai Hot Air Balloon Ride

Start early with a private hot air balloon flight over the countryside surrounding Chiang Mai. As the sun comes up, you’ll drift above the Ping River Valley, rice fields and small villages before landing for a champagne breakfast.

Later, head out of the city for a private elephant experience. You’ll meet the elephants and the mahouts who care for them, learn about their routines and spend time alongside them in a much more personal setting than a standard tourist visit.

There is time to help prepare food, walk with the elephants and join them at the water, followed by lunch in the countryside.

It is one of the most memorable days of the trip, and a good contrast to the wedding celebrations, giving you a full day in the landscape around Chiang Mai before heading south to the islands.

Day 8: Chiang Mai to Koh Samui

Now the honeymoon changes gear.

Fly south to Koh Samui, where you’ll be transferred privately to your beach resort.

Samui has some of Thailand’s strongest luxury hotel infrastructure, particularly for couples who want privacy. Villas with pools, excellent spas, private beaches and very good restaurants make it an easy place to disappear for a few days after the wedding.

That evening, we can arrange a private dinner by the beach.

Day 9: Koh Samui Honeymoon Shoot

Spend the morning however you want. This is the honeymoon, so doing very little is entirely acceptable.

A private photographer can join you for a relaxed honeymoon shoot around the resort, or you can skip it completely and spend the day by your pool.

Other options include a private Thai cooking class, spa treatments or simply a long lunch and an even longer afternoon.

Day 10: Koh Samui

Take a private yacht into Mu Ko Ang Thong National Marine Park, an archipelago of limestone islands west of Koh Samui.

Spend the day swimming, snorkeling and exploring the coastline, with lunch onboard and plenty of time away from the busier parts of Samui.

It is one of the best days to keep completely private, particularly on a honeymoon.

Day 11: Andaman Sea Luxury Cruise

Your final full day is deliberately light.

Spend it at the resort, book a treatment, take another boat out or do absolutely nothing until dinner.

We can arrange a final private cruise or dinner that evening, depending on how you want to finish the trip.

Day 12: Departure

After breakfast at the hotel, meet your representative for a private transfer to Koh Samui Airport, marking the end of your unforgettable journey.
