The Happiest Place on Earth: A Honeymoon in Fiji

A honeymoon in Fiji means stepping into a way of life: not just the sunshine and the sea, but a sense of community that Fijians extend to visitors without much hesitation.

Couples who honeymoon here tend to come back talking less about the water and more about the people they met along the way: a boat driver who remembered their names by the second day and a resort host who felt more like an old friend than staff.

Nine days spent immersed in Fiji, with no second country or split itinerary, just island time. This itinerary is built around immersing yourself in that culture, rather than rushing past it.

Your days settle into the privacy that Fiji does especially well: a handful of villas apart from everyone else, or a resort large enough to offer something new each afternoon without feeling crowded. Mornings start with water against the hull of a boat moored just off your room. Evenings end at a table set out of view of the rest of the resort.

The nine days move from arrival, through open ocean time, into a genuine cultural exchange, and close with two open days for whatever you have not yet gotten around to. Nothing here is fixed; your specialist builds the pacing, resort, and add-ons once you enquire.

Fiji‘s constitution has explicitly protected LGBTQ+ people from discrimination since 2013, one of the first countries in the world to write that protection into law. Inside the resorts we work with, that welcome is consistent and unremarkable in the best sense: two names on one reservation, one bed, no questions.

In detail

? Don't forget that most of our itineraries can be totally customized. Our expert team will be able to talk you through all the options.

Day 1: Arrival in Fiji

You fly into Nadi and transfer by boat or seaplane to your resort, arranged around the kind of privacy you have asked for.

The rest of the day is yours to settle in, unpack slowly, and get used to island time before anything is scheduled.

Most couples spend this first evening close to their room, with dinner arranged wherever feels right once you have seen the place in daylight.

Day 1: Arrival in Fiji

Days 2-3: A Private Beginning

These two days are built around celebrating the marriage itself, not repeating it: a private beachfront dinner arranged entirely around your preferences rather than a set package.

Some couples want a quiet toast at sunset with just the two of them; others plan something slightly larger if a few guests are already travelling with them. Either way, your specialist coordinates every detail beforehand so the day itself asks nothing of you.

The rest of these two days is left open for recovery, a slow breakfast, and the first proper swim of the trip.

Days 2-3: A Private Beginning

Days 4-5: Ocean Days

Having basked in your celebrations, these two days are for the water itself: snorkelling a nearby reef, a half-day sail with lunch served on board, or simply floating in the lagoon in front of your room.

Evenings are unhurried, with dinner options ranging from your resort’s main restaurant to a private table set apart from other guests.

This is deliberately the least structured stretch of the trip, built for whatever pace the two of you land on together.

Days 4-5: Ocean Days

Day 6: A Fijian Welcome

One day is set aside for a visit to a nearby community, arranged directly through your resort rather than as a generic show.

You are welcomed into the village, meet local artisans, and take part in whatever the community chooses to share that day, sometimes a cooking demonstration, sometimes traditional weaving.

Fijian hospitality extends warmly to LGBTQ+ couples in these settings, though as in most of the South Pacific, open affection is generally kept low-key once you are outside the resort itself.

Day 6: A Fijian Welcome

Days 7-8: Celebration and Reflection

These final two full days are the most open of the trip, reserved for whatever the two of you have not yet done: a second dive, a spa afternoon, a sunset sail booked on a whim, or simply staying in your room longer than planned.

Many couples use one of these evenings for a private dinner marking the trip’s close, arranged wherever on the resort feels most fitting to the two of you.
