This eight-day itinerary keeps the entire trip at a single base resort, without a lot of moving parts to manage with kids in tow. For families who want a holiday that runs itself once you land, that focus is the whole point.
Your days settle into a rhythm built for each age group, with several children’s programs so both a four-year-old and a twelve-year-old can enjoy themselves in their own way.
Mornings often start with kids already at the pool before the adults have finished coffee. Evenings sometimes end with a dinner for two, arranged through the resort’s babysitting service while the kids continue their evening programme.
The eight days move from arrival and settling in, through structured family activity, into slower days built around a sandbank picnic and repeat favorites, closing with time left open for whatever your family wants to repeat. Day 1: Arrival in Fiji
You fly into Nadi and transfer to your resort as a family, arriving through palm-lined grounds that give way to a strip of coastal jungle before the sand even starts.
The afternoon is left open for everyone to settle in at their own pace: younger children often want the pool immediately, while older kids and teenagers may prefer exploring the grounds first; there will be something for everyone.
Dinner on the first night is kept simple and close to your room, letting everyone adjust to the time difference before anything else is scheduled.
Days 2-3: Finding Your Rhythm
These two days introduce your family to the resort’s children’s programme, run separately for different age groups so that a four-year-old and a twelve-year-old are each doing something suited to them rather than the same activity, often including a session learning traditional Fijian weaving with pandanus leaves or trying on a sulu, the wraparound garment worn daily across the islands.
While the kids are occupied, parents have genuine free time, whether that means the spa, a quiet lunch, or simply reading somewhere without interruption.
Families typically reunite for dinner, with a kids’ menu available alongside the main restaurant.
Days 4-5: Family Adventures
These two days move outward from the resort itself, often starting with a family sailing trip to a nearby reef, snorkelling gear included, where kids can spot the same orange-and-white clownfish many recognise from Finding Nemo, at home in Fiji’s own coral.
A hilltop walk through palm groves and jungle rewards you with a view over the island, with a stop along the way for fresh, just-cut pineapple and papaya.
In the evening, a meke performance brings out fire dancers and drumming on the beach, a reliable favourite for families with a mix of ages.
Days 6-7: Slow Days and Sandbanks
With most of the structured activity behind you, these two days are for an early walk along the beach to watch the sunrise before the resort wakes, a private family picnic on a nearby sandbank, more pool time, and whatever your children have decided they want to repeat from earlier in the week.
Parents typically use at least one of these evenings for a dinner without the kids, arranged through the resort’s babysitting service, while the children continue with the evening portion of the kids’ club.
Day 8: Departure
Your last morning leaves time for one final swim before the transfer back to Nadi and your flight home.
Most families leave with a favourite activity the kids will ask to repeat and a short list of what worked well for next time, which your specialist can build directly into a return visit.
