When GetUp! released this video first time it moved a nation and sparked the movement of LGBT rights. Today this video still portrays an extremely important message. Although there has been positive progression towards LGBT rights in Australia there is still one noticeable exception that same-sex marriage is illegal. The progress is getting there however, as there are now several anti-discrimination laws which protect the LGBT community within the employment sector and service access.

It seems the 2016 Olympics has sparked several Olympic athletes to seize the memorious opportunity to propose to their loved ones. So far we have seen Brazilian rugby sevens player, Isadora Cerullo proposed to by her girlfriend, Marjorie Enya on the rugby pitch. Cerullo's long term girlfriend fashioned a ring out of a piece of ribbon and tied it round Isadora's finger whilst her fellow team-mates watched and cheered.

Couples stage kiss-in in London supermarket
A mass LGBT kissathon was staged yesterday at a supermarket in Hackney, East London after a gay couple were told by a security guard that a woman had complained about their behaviour which involved holding hands and showing public displays of affection. Thomas Rees and his boyfriend Joshua Bradwell were subject to the comments at a Sainsbury's supermarket in the capital.

VP Joe Biden officiates White House wedding
The Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden, yesterday married two White House staffers at his residence in Washington, DC. Biden married Brian Mosteller and Joe Mahshie, who both work at the White House in a ceremony for which he specially obtained a temporary certification to enable him to officiate the wedding. He tweeted a photo of the couple saying: "Proud to marry Brian and Joe at my house.

Gay Hilton hotel advert causes a stir
A new advert by worldwide hotel chain Hilton Hotels has angered the American Family Association who felt it necessary to issue a statement to vocalise their disappointment with the imagery used. The advert, which shows two fully clothed men cuddling in bed together, was released by the hotel chain as part of a campaign featuring in Travel and Leisure Magazine.
