Embodying a truly progressive approach to LGBTQ+ rights, in 2016 the country went as far as making recommendations to a number of intergovernmental bodies to rethink their approaches to gender identity.

In detail
Day 1 - San Jose
We’ll begin in the capital city, perhaps with Dionne Warwick’s iconic song in our heads. We’ll have the afternoon to explore this buzzing city and get to know each other. We can look forward to a buffet of classic Costa Rican food in the evening, so you’ll find out what your favourite delicacy is for future reference. It’ll then be time to explore the nightlife. Expect lots of Latino music so brush up on your dance moves in advance.
Days 2, 3 And 4 - Manuel Antonio
This place is celebrated for its flora and fauna. You’ll see monkeys, reptiles, birds, sloths and plant life. We’ll also explore the gay beach, popular with gay people from all over the world. After the beach, you can head to Manuel Antonio National Park and see the wonderful animals native to these parts – there’ll be lots of monkeys. A wildlife expert will take us for a guided walk through the park. In the evening we’ll explore the social scene.
Days 5 and 6 - Monteverde
On day 5 we continue into the mountains to the town of Monteverde. Known as a “cloud forest”, this area is known for its lush green forests, waterfalls, hiking trails, and biodiversity. The sunsets over the valley below are stunning, the ziplining is the best in the country – and the local microbrewery is delicious.
You’ll be in Monteverde for two nights, at a beautiful eco-lodge, just a couple minutes walk into town. It’s a great place to soak in the surrounding nature, enjoy a hike or a coffee tour and, if you’re up for it, take a ride on Costa Rica’s longest and highest zipline too.
Days 7, 8 and 9 - La Fortuna
We’ll head north to Arenal, boasting an active volcano, great scenery, zip lines and canopy adventures. We shall take a look at the crater’s edge of Poas volcano, and see what an active volcano looks like – you won’t get many chances in life to do that. We’ll also take you to a hot springs waterfall oasis buried deep in the jungle. This is a stunning site and quite a way off the beaten track. Over three days you’ll have plenty of opportunities to embark on adventures.
Fantastic white-water rafting opportunities, along with white-water tubing, horseback riding, hiking, kayaking, and many more unique activities to choose from here.
Days 10 And 11 - San Jose
To conclude our trip we return to the capital via a scenic mountain route. Back in San Jose we’ll enjoy poolside drinks at the hotel. Then it’ll be time to say adios to Costa Rica.
