At a glance
This seven-day Greece itinerary combines Athens with Santorini, beginning with the country’s great ancient sites before moving out into the Aegean.
You’ll start in Athens, where a guided tour takes in the Panathenaic Stadium, Hadrian’s Arch, the Greek Parliament and the Acropolis, followed by the Acropolis Museum.

Before leaving the capital, spend a full day cruising the Saronic Gulf, stopping at Hydra, Poros and Aegina.
From Athens, take the ferry to Santorini for the second half of the trip.
There is time to explore the island at leisure, as well as a guided day covering Akrotiri, Red Beach, Perivolos, Megalochori and Pyrgos, finishing with a tasting at Santo Wines.
You’ll also head out across the caldera by boat to visit the volcanic islands and hot springs, continue to Thirassia, then finish in Oia with time to stay for sunset.
It is a straightforward way to combine two sides of Greece in one week: Athens for history and archaeology, Santorini for the caldera, villages and island life.
Day by day
This is a sample plan, not a fixed departure. Days can be added, removed or reordered, and almost every client changes something. Prices are an entry-level guide; your quote will be exact.
Day 1-2: Athens
Arrive in Athens, where you’ll be met at the airport and transferred privately to your hotel. The rest of the day is free, giving you time to settle in and start exploring the city at your own pace.
The following day is devoted to Athens’ major landmarks. Begin at the Panathenaic Stadium before continuing past the National Garden, Hadrian’s Arch, the Greek Parliament and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
From there, head up to the Acropolis to see the Propylea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and the Parthenon.
You’ll then continue to the Acropolis Museum, home to sculpture, architectural fragments and artifacts from the Acropolis and surrounding ancient city. Excavations beneath the museum reveal another layer of Athens directly under your feet.
Day 3: Island Hopping
Today you leave Athens for a full-day cruise through the Saronic Gulf.
The first stop is Hydra, where you’ll have free time to walk through the harbor town or go for a swim before returning to the boat.
Continue to Poros, the smallest of the three islands on today’s route, separated from the Peloponnese by a narrow channel. You’ll have around an hour to explore before lunch is served on board.
The final stop is Aegina. There is more free time here, with the option to swim or join an excursion to the Temple of Afea Athena.
Return to Athens in the late afternoon.
Day 4-6: Santorini
After breakfast, transfer to the port and take the ferry from Athens to Santorini.
Your first day on the island is deliberately left open. Spend it exploring at your own pace, whether that means staying around your hotel, heading to the coast or wandering through Santorini’s whitewashed villages.
The following day, set out on a guided tour of the island, beginning at the archaeological site of Akrotiri. You’ll see the ongoing excavations before continuing to Red Beach.
There is free time at Perivolos Beach for lunch or a swim, followed by a visit to Megalochori and then Pyrgos.
The day finishes at Santo Wines, where you’ll taste three local wines with views across Santorini.
Day 6: Volcano & Hot Springs
Today you return to the water for a trip across Santorini’s caldera.
From Athinios Port, board a traditional sailing boat and head toward the volcanic islands. You’ll walk up toward the crater area and learn more about the volcanic history that created Santorini’s extraordinary landscape.
Afterwards, continue to the hot springs for a swim before sailing on to Thirassia. There is time to explore the island before the final stop of the day.
You’ll arrive at Ammoudi Bay beneath Oia, then make your way up to the village. The next few hours are free, giving you time for a drink, dinner or simply finding your spot before sunset.
After sunset, return to your hotel by coach.
Day 7: Departure
After breakfast, enjoy your final morning in Santorini before your transfer to the airport for your onward flight.
