At a glance

Iceland is a land of extremes—where glaciers meet fire, and the Northern Lights dance across the Arctic sky. This immersive journey takes you through the country’s most breathtaking landscapes, from Reykjavik’s welcoming charm to the frozen beauty of the north, all while enjoying the comfort of handpicked accommodations that blend Nordic elegance with nature’s raw beauty.

Your adventure begins with a visit to the Blue Lagoon, where mineral-rich waters offer a moment of serenity before your first Northern Lights hunt. As darkness falls, you’ll venture away from the city lights into the stillness of the countryside, where the aurora shimmers in hues of green and violet across the night sky. Reykjavik’s waterfront and landmarks offer a chance to explore at your own pace before you take flight to Akureyri, the gateway to Iceland’s mystical north.

In the north, the Lake Mývatn region unfolds in a tapestry of waterfalls, bubbling mud pools, and ancient lava fields. You’ll stand between two continents, marvel at the steaming geothermal landscapes, and, if you wish, soak in the Mývatn Nature Baths. The journey continues through the Silver Circle, where cascading waterfalls and hot springs lead you into the remote beauty of Husafell, a haven for Northern Lights viewing.

No Icelandic journey is complete without a visit to Langjökull Glacier, where you’ll step inside a man-made ice cave, surrounded by shimmering blue walls of ancient ice. As the adventure concludes, you’ll return home with memories of glowing skies, glacial wonders, and untouched landscapes that will stay with you forever.

This is a sample plan, not a fixed departure. Days can be added, removed or reordered, and almost every client changes something. Prices are an entry-level guide; your quote will be exact.

Day 1: Arrival & Blue Lagoon Serenity

Arrive in Iceland and meet your private driver-guide for a seamless transfer to Alda Hotel, your boutique retreat in Reykjavik. En route, unwind in the Blue Lagoon, where mineral-rich waters soothe and revitalize. This evening, join a small group for a Northern Lights chase, venturing into the Arctic wilderness in search of the aurora’s mesmerizing dance across the sky. With expert guidance and photography tips, witness this natural wonder shimmering in hues of green and violet before returning to the comfort of your Standard Room at Alda Hotel.

Day 2: Reykjavik at Your Own Pace

Spend the day exploring Reykjavik’s waterfront paths, vibrant neighborhoods, and cultural landmarks. Admire the towering Hallgrímskirkja Church, the striking Höfði House, and the serene Lake Tjörnin, home to abundant birdlife. Stroll along the harbor, where you can enjoy fresh seafood or visit the city’s many galleries and museums. From historic sites to modern Nordic design, Reykjavik is a city that blends past and present beautifully. After a leisurely day of discovery, return to your Standard Room at Alda Hotel, where contemporary comfort awaits.

Day 3: Into the Arctic North & Northern Lights in Akureyri

Meet your driver for an airport transfer before flying to Akureyri, Iceland’s northern gem. Upon arrival, check into Hotel Kea, a stylish base in the heart of town. That evening, set out once more in search of the Northern Lights, traveling far from city lights into the frozen landscapes of northern Iceland. With expert guidance and warm refreshments, immerse yourself in the magic of the Arctic night as the aurora sways above. Afterward, return to your Standard Room at Hotel Kea for a restful night.

Day 4: The Beauty of Lake Mývatn

Join a small group to explore Lake Mývatn, a wonderland of geothermal and volcanic marvels. Stop at Goðafoss Waterfall, known as the ‘Waterfall of the Gods,’ before discovering the surreal lava formations of Dimmuborgir and the bubbling Hverir Mud Pools. Stand at the continental rift, where two tectonic plates pull apart, shaping the land. Optionally, soak in the Mývatn Nature Baths for a moment of relaxation. Return to Hotel Kea, where your Standard Room provides a cozy retreat after a day of exploration.

Day 5: Flight to Reykjavik & Silver Circle Wonders

Fly back to Reykjavik, where your private driver awaits for a journey through the Silver Circle, home to Viking history, geothermal wonders, and cascading waterfalls. Witness the power of Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring, before visiting the stunning Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls. Pause for a rejuvenating soak at Krauma Hot Baths before arriving at Hotel Húsafell, a remote retreat ideal for Northern Lights viewing. Check into your Standard Room and, if conditions allow, sign up for a Northern Lights Wake-Up Call to catch nature’s most spectacular show.

Day 6: Langjökull Glacier & Ice Cave Adventure

Embark on a thrilling expedition to Langjökull Glacier, Iceland’s second-largest ice cap. Traverse the vast icy landscape in a specially modified glacier vehicle before venturing inside a man-made ice cave, where dazzling blue walls reveal the glacier’s ancient history. Expert guides offer insights into this frozen world, creating a truly unforgettable experience. After exploring the heart of the glacier, return to Hotel Húsafell, where your Standard Room offers a tranquil escape. Once again, keep an eye on the sky—the Northern Lights may make a final, breathtaking appearance.

Day 7: Departure from Iceland

Bid farewell to Iceland as your private driver transfers you to Keflavik Airport for your onward journey. Reflect on a week of unforgettable moments—from soaking in geothermal waters and chasing the Northern Lights to exploring glaciers and volcanic landscapes. With memories of breathtaking scenery and adventure, depart knowing Iceland’s magic will stay with you long after your journey ends.
