At a glance
Amilla Maldives is a Maldivian-owned, five-star luxury resort in Baa Atoll, with 67 beach, overwater, and treetop villas on a UNESCO Biosphere island.
Amilla Maldives is the kind of resort that puts the island first. Maldivian-owned and EarthCheck Gold certified, it leaves about 70% of its Baa Atoll island as jungle, with 67 villas and residences threaded through the trees, along the beach, and out over the lagoon. Some are built into the canopy.
Baa Atoll is a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, which puts Amilla within easy reach of Hanifaru Bay, the world-famous gathering site for mantas and whale sharks. The house reef ranks in Travel + Leisure’s top ten, and Javvu Spa lands in the magazine’s top ten in Asia.
Seven restaurants and a handful of bars cover everything from Japanese-Latin fusion at Feeling Koi to wood-fired pizza and farm-to-table cooking from the on-island garden. Amilla is a Maldivian leader in accessibility too, the world’s first 5-star-verified accessible resort, and reachable in 30 minutes by seaplane from Malé.

More Information
Dining
Seven restaurants is a generous spread for 67 villas, and the variety follows. Feeling Koi runs Japanese izakaya with a Latin twist, the farm-to-table kitchen lifts ingredients straight from the on-island garden, and there’s wood-fired pizza, Pan-Asian wok cooking, and a family-friendly beach club for slower lunches. Three bars cover the in-between hours, from craft cocktails at Baa Bar to the gin-and-champagne Sunset Bar and a private cellar for tastings.
Wellness
Javvu Spa has been ranked one of the top ten spas in Asia by Travel + Leisure, and the facilities back it up. Eight treatment pods are tucked into the palms, with a full steam and sauna circuit, a Sensora light and sound therapy room, and a meditation labyrinth. The wellness programme runs from East-meets-West treatments and expert health coaching to multi-day journeys, with three gyms and daily yoga to keep the active side covered.
Activities
The house reef alone ranks in Travel + Leisure’s Maldives top ten, and Amilla’s location in Baa Atoll means seasonal trips out to Hanifaru Bay for the manta and whale shark gatherings. The island itself runs to cycling tracks through the jungle, two tennis courts with a resident pro, a football academy, and a kids’ club. Evenings tend to bring live music, fire shows, or the beat of Maldivian drums.
