Acqualina Resort & Residences is a five-star oceanfront resort on the beach at Sunny Isles, north of Miami Beach.
The resort holds Forbes Five-Star and AAA Five Diamond status, set on 4.5 beachfront acres. The look is a Mediterranean villa, with Baroque fountains, archways, and lawns of red umbrellas. It is part hotel, part residences, with 98 rooms and suites, most with marble bathrooms, private terraces, and ocean or Intracoastal views.
Dining runs across four oceanfront restaurants: Il Mulino New York for Italian, Greek Avra Miami, Japanese Ke-uH, and the casual beachside Costa Grill. The Acqualina Spa by ESPA runs to 20,000 square feet over two oceanfront floors, and there are three pools, one adults-only.
It is polished and family-owned, set up for couples and families alike, with an adults-only pool and a marine-biology kids’ programme. It suits honeymooners, gay or straight, as much as family groups. The Bal Harbour Shops are five minutes away, and the airport is about 30.

Dining
There are four oceanfront restaurants. Il Mulino New York is the long-standing anchor, an Italian fine-dining room that reopened in 2026 after a full refresh. Avra Miami brings Greek and Mediterranean cooking, Ke-uH does Japanese fusion, and Costa Grill keeps things casual right on the sand, for guests and residents. Beyond the restaurants, the resort sets up private beachfront dinners and gourmet picnics on request.
Wellness
The Acqualina Spa by ESPA is the standout, a two-story, 20,000-square-foot oceanfront space with 11 treatment rooms, a couples’ suite, Himalayan salt relaxation lounges, crystal steam rooms, a Finnish sauna, and a heated jet pool. It has been named the best hotel spa in the country. Outside, three pools run along the beach, one adults-only and one for families, with the Atlantic and 400 feet of private sand beyond.
Location
Acqualina is in Sunny Isles Beach, a high-rise beach town on the barrier island between Miami Beach and Fort Lauderdale, with a wide, calm stretch of Atlantic sand. The Bal Harbour Shops and their designer stores are about five minutes south, and the giant Aventura Mall is a short drive inland. South Beach is around half an hour, and both Miami and Fort Lauderdale airports are roughly 30 to 40 minutes away.
