At a glance

Hilton Moorea Lagoon Resort and Spa sits on the northwestern coast of Moorea, with overwater bungalows, beachfront rooms, and garden retreats spread across eco-certified grounds above the lagoon.

The resort holds the distinction of operating Moorea’s only overwater restaurant, giving it a dining position that no other property on the island can replicate.

Accommodation spans three distinct settings: overwater villas with open lagoon views, beachfront rooms with direct sand access, and garden bungalows set within lush tropical greenery.

The resort’s tour desk arranges a full range of island activities, from snorkelling with stingrays and rays to 4×4 safaris across Moorea’s mountainous interior. A full-service spa, lagoon-style pool, tennis courts, yoga classes, and a fitness centre complete the on-property offering, and the eco-friendly certification reflects an ongoing commitment to reducing the resort’s environmental footprint across operations.

Further information

Dining

The resort’s overwater restaurant is the standout feature of the dining offering, serving Polynesian and international cuisine above the lagoon with unobstructed water views throughout the meal. A more casual beachfront option handles lighter daytime bites alongside handcrafted cocktails, and the full dining program draws on fresh local island ingredients across all venues.

Wellness

A full-service spa delivers Polynesian-inspired massages, facials, and body therapies in a dedicated treatment environment designed for extended stays. Yoga classes run alongside the resort’s fitness center, and the lagoon-style pool provides a natural complement to the spa for guests building a broader wellness routine across their stay.

Location

Moorea sits 17 kilometers northwest of Tahiti, accessible by a 30-minute ferry crossing or a short flight from Faaa Airport. The Hilton occupies Papetoai on the island’s northwestern coast, one of Moorea’s quieter stretches of shoreline, with the twin bays of Cook and Opunohu accessible by road within 20 minutes and the island’s volcanic peaks forming a continuous backdrop across the resort’s garden and overwater positions.

The destination

French Polynesia

French Polynesia is a French overseas collectivity, which means French law applies, the currency is the CFP Franc, and French is the official language alongside Tahitian. English is widely spoken across the main tourist islands and at all luxury properties. No visa is required for US, UK, EU, Canadian, or Australian citizens for stays of up to 90 days.

French Polynesia is the ultimate luxury travel destination. No trip to paradise is complete without a visit to Tahiti, Mo'orea and Bora Bora. You can combine all of these islands into one island hopping vacation.

The Ultimate French Polynesia Grand Tour

Tailor-made Holiday

Some destinations ask you to choose one experience over another; French Polynesia does not. This sixteen-day journey moves through five islands across two archipelagos, each with its own character and pace, connected by short inter-island flights, a scenic ferry crossing, and a private boat transfer. You will begin in Tahiti, the territory's cultural and geographic heart, before crossing the Sea of the Moon to Moorea, where jagged volcanic peaks rise directly behind the lagoon.

Bora Bora Snorkelling & Reef Trip

Tailor-made Holiday

Your journey begins on Mo'orea, where a turquoise lagoon shelters black tip reef sharks, turtles, and stingrays within easy reach of the shore. From there, you continue to Bora Bora, where Mount Otemanu rises over a lagoon best seen from a private catamaran, glass of champagne in hand. The route continues to Rangiroa, the second-largest atoll on Earth, where the pink-tinged sands of Vahituri catch the afternoon light.

Secluded Tahiti & Rangiroa Tour

Tailor-made Holiday

This itinerary moves through three of French Polynesia's quieter islands, each reached only by boat or short inter-island flight, and each rarely appearing on a first-time visitor's itinerary. It suits travellers who have already done Bora Bora, or who would rather skip it, in favour of a slower, less-photographed route through French Polynesia. The journey begins on Tahiti, where volcanic peaks meet a coastline still shaped by the island's original Polynesian settlements.
