At a glance
InterContinental Tahiti Resort and Spa occupies two kilometres from Faaa International Airport on Tahiti’s northwest coast, with overwater bungalows, garden rooms, and suites spread across lush tropical grounds above an aquamarine lagoon. Moorea Island sits directly across the water, visible from the overwater bungalows and the resort’s gastronomic restaurant, Le Lotus.
The property functions as the primary gateway hotel for French Polynesia, with island-hopping packages connecting it to InterContinental’s Bora Bora property.
A cultural programme distinguishes the resort from others at this price point: Mini Heiva brings the best Polynesian dance performers from the annual Heiva i Tahiti festival to the resort for a four-night programme each year, and weekly theme nights with traditional dance and live music run throughout the calendar.
The combination of airport convenience, a full dining roster, and genuine cultural depth makes this a serious contender as both a standalone stay and an island-hopping base.

Further information
Dining

Six distinct venues give the resort one of the broadest dining rosters in Tahiti. Te Tiare is the main all-day restaurant, serving Polynesian and international cooking from breakfast through to late evening. Le Lotus operates as the gastronomic counterpart, an overwater restaurant with lagoon views serving refined cuisine at lunch and dinner. Huriama Garden handles fresh tapas and creative cocktails under banana trees and tropical flowers from midday onward. The Tiki Bar runs from morning to late evening with live music, and Le Lotus Swim-Up Bar serves the pool throughout the day. A Tahitian Sunday brunch with live music runs every week from 7am.
Wellness

Algotherm Spa positions itself as a destination spa within the resort, using the French marine skincare brand’s thalassotherapy-based products across a full treatment menu of massages, body wraps, and facial therapies with a Polynesian influence. Guests are received in a dedicated lounge with herbal tea before treatments begin. A 24-hour fitness center sits alongside the spa for guests maintaining a training schedule across time zones.
Location

Two kilometers from Faaa International Airport, InterContinental Tahiti is the most practical luxury base on the main island. The northwest coast location puts Papeete’s markets, museums, and waterfront within easy reach, while the lagoon directly in front of the resort faces Moorea across the Sea of the Moon. The resort operates an island-hopping rate with its Bora Bora sister property, and the airport proximity makes connections to Rangiroa, Tikehau, Moorea, and the outer islands straightforward from the same base.
French Polynesia
French Polynesia is a French overseas collectivity, which means French law applies, the currency is the CFP Franc, and French is the official language alongside Tahitian. English is widely spoken across the main tourist islands and at all luxury properties. No visa is required for US, UK, EU, Canadian, or Australian citizens for stays of up to 90 days.

The Ultimate French Polynesia Grand Tour
Tailor-made HolidaySome destinations ask you to choose one experience over another; French Polynesia does not. This sixteen-day journey moves through five islands across two archipelagos, each with its own character and pace, connected by short inter-island flights, a scenic ferry crossing, and a private boat transfer. You will begin in Tahiti, the territory's cultural and geographic heart, before crossing the Sea of the Moon to Moorea, where jagged volcanic peaks rise directly behind the lagoon.

Bora Bora Snorkelling & Reef Trip
Tailor-made HolidayYour journey begins on Mo'orea, where a turquoise lagoon shelters black tip reef sharks, turtles, and stingrays within easy reach of the shore. From there, you continue to Bora Bora, where Mount Otemanu rises over a lagoon best seen from a private catamaran, glass of champagne in hand. The route continues to Rangiroa, the second-largest atoll on Earth, where the pink-tinged sands of Vahituri catch the afternoon light.

Secluded Tahiti & Rangiroa Tour
Tailor-made HolidayThis itinerary moves through three of French Polynesia's quieter islands, each reached only by boat or short inter-island flight, and each rarely appearing on a first-time visitor's itinerary. It suits travellers who have already done Bora Bora, or who would rather skip it, in favour of a slower, less-photographed route through French Polynesia. The journey begins on Tahiti, where volcanic peaks meet a coastline still shaped by the island's original Polynesian settlements.
