At a glance
Hotel Kia Ora Resort and Spa sits on the northeastern coast of Rangiroa atoll in the Tuamotu Archipelago, positioned between the two passes of Avatoru and Tiputa with a lagoon of crystal-clear water on all sides.
The property offers 58 bungalows set across three settings: within the coconut grove, along the beach, and overwater above the lagoon.
Rangiroa is one of French Polynesia’s premier diving destinations, with the passes drawing sharks, dolphins, rays, turtles, and reef fish in significant numbers. Hotel Kia Ora sits at the access point for all of it, with an on-site dive operation and a range of lagoon excursions built into the resort’s activity programme.
The interiors draw on traditional Polynesian craftsmanship throughout, and the overwater Miki Miki Bar serves as the resort’s signature sunset spot, overlooking the lagoon from above the water.

Highlights
- Overwater, beachfront, and coconut grove bungalows across 58 villas on Rangiroa atoll
- Direct access to Tiputa Pass, one of French Polynesia’s top scuba diving and dolphin-watching sites
- Overwater Miki Miki Bar with lagoon views at sunset, unique to Rangiroa’s resort landscape

Dining

Te Rairoa Restaurant is the resort’s main dining venue, serving French-Polynesian cuisine that combines classical French technique with traditional island ingredients and local flavors. The overwater Miki Miki Bar overlooks the lagoon directly and serves cocktails and lighter meals, and operates as the resort’s natural sunset gathering point.
Wellness

Poekura Spa sits within the coconut grove at the heart of the resort, offering treatments in a secluded garden setting away from the lagoon-facing public areas. The Aito Fitness Center covers standard equipment for guests looking to maintain a fitness routine during their stay.
Location

Rangiroa is one of the largest atolls in the world, located in the Tuamotu Archipelago roughly 300 kilometers northeast of Tahiti. Hotel Kia Ora sits on the atoll’s northeastern coast between the Avatoru and Tiputa passes, two of French Polynesia’s most celebrated dive sites. The lagoon stretches across the horizon in every direction from the resort’s overwater and beachfront positions.
French Polynesia
French Polynesia is a French overseas collectivity, which means French law applies, the currency is the CFP Franc, and French is the official language alongside Tahitian. English is widely spoken across the main tourist islands and at all luxury properties. No visa is required for US, UK, EU, Canadian, or Australian citizens for stays of up to 90 days.

The Ultimate French Polynesia Grand Tour
Tailor-made HolidaySome destinations ask you to choose one experience over another; French Polynesia does not. This sixteen-day journey moves through five islands across two archipelagos, each with its own character and pace, connected by short inter-island flights, a scenic ferry crossing, and a private boat transfer. You will begin in Tahiti, the territory's cultural and geographic heart, before crossing the Sea of the Moon to Moorea, where jagged volcanic peaks rise directly behind the lagoon.

Bora Bora Snorkelling & Reef Trip
Tailor-made HolidayYour journey begins on Mo'orea, where a turquoise lagoon shelters black tip reef sharks, turtles, and stingrays within easy reach of the shore. From there, you continue to Bora Bora, where Mount Otemanu rises over a lagoon best seen from a private catamaran, glass of champagne in hand. The route continues to Rangiroa, the second-largest atoll on Earth, where the pink-tinged sands of Vahituri catch the afternoon light.

Secluded Tahiti & Rangiroa Tour
Tailor-made HolidayThis itinerary moves through three of French Polynesia's quieter islands, each reached only by boat or short inter-island flight, and each rarely appearing on a first-time visitor's itinerary. It suits travellers who have already done Bora Bora, or who would rather skip it, in favour of a slower, less-photographed route through French Polynesia. The journey begins on Tahiti, where volcanic peaks meet a coastline still shaped by the island's original Polynesian settlements.
