The Tryst is making history as the world’s first luxury gay hotel brand, not just some gay-friendly spot that throws a rainbow flag up during Pride. We’re talking about a whole luxury hospitality empire that’s being built from the ground up by and for the community. The founder, Tristan Schukraft, decided to create an experience where you “Experience your best self, even on your worst behaviour”.
The property itself is stunning – we’re talking 53 rooms of pure boutique luxury designed by the same architects who did Four Seasons Tamarindo. The rooftop pool boasts panoramic Puerto Vallarta views. Location-wise it’s hard to beat – one minute walk to Los Muertos Beach, right in the heart of Zona Romántica where all the gay magic happens. The opening party for The Tryst featured all the gay jetset you see on Instagram partying with Jennifer Coolidge.
The Tryst now joins The Almar as a luxury gay hotel in Puerto Vallarta, attracting mostly North American travellers. A great place to see and be seen.

The Tryst offers ten distinct room categories organized across four clear tiers, each designed with the property’s signature minimal modern Mexican aesthetic. Entry Level Collection includes the Tryst Queen and City King categories, ranging from 200-250 square feet with personal balconies and ultra-soft king or queen beds. These rooms provide Puerto Vallarta street views and essential luxury amenities while maintaining the property’s boutique standards.
Mid-Tier Selection encompasses the Courtyard King, Corner King, and Tryst King options, spanning 225-315 square feet with enhanced features like glass sliders to private terraces, upgraded bathrooms with hand showers, and courtyard restaurant views. The Tryst King represents the collection’s sweet spot, offering what the hotel describes as “everything you want, plus that little extra you have to have.”
Luxury Tier includes the Superior Rooms and Suite categories, ranging from 385-590 square feet with premium amenities like multiple balconies, outdoor showers, separate living areas, and accommodations for up to four guests. The Suite serves as the ultimate Tryst experience, transforming 590 square feet into a contemporary sanctuary with L-shaped sofa, platform king bed, and multiple private balconies positioned above the Pacific Ocean.

The Riviera Maya runs south from Cancun along the Caribbean coast, with the resort strip of Playa del Carmen and Tulum giving way to jungle and reef as you move away from the main tourist corridor.
