Proudly LGBTQ+ Experts and Welcoming to All Travelers

Dubai is a global tourism powerhouse, renowned for its futuristic skyline, luxurious hotels, and audacious attractions. From the towering Burj Khalifa to the manmade Palm Jumeirah, the city exudes opulence and ambition. It’s a destination where indulgence knows no bounds, offering everything from high-end shopping and fine dining to private beaches and world-class spas. For many travelers, a Dubai experience revolves around its lavish hotels, which cater to every need, from vibrant nightlife to exquisite relaxation.

Here at Out Of Office, we truly understand the world you live in, and the world you want to explore. Our attention to detail, exceptional service and deep understanding of both luxury travel and LGBTQ+ travel make us a fantastic choice for those looking for a travel experience where exclusivity meets inclusivity.

Why is Dubai a popular luxury travel destination?

? Don't forget that all of our itineraries are totally customized and so this is just an idea of what we can build for you.

However, beneath its glittering surface, Dubai presents challenges, particularly for LGBTQ+ travelers. As part of the United Arab Emirates, Dubai adheres to strict laws based on conservative cultural and religious norms, which criminalize same-sex relationships. Public displays of affection, even between heterosexual couples, are discouraged, and laws may feel restrictive for those used to more liberal destinations.

Despite these limitations, Dubai has carved out spaces where international visitors, including LGBTQ+ travelers, can enjoy their stay with discretion and safety. We work with gay-friendly hotels and trusted partners that ensure a welcoming environment, allowing you to navigate the city’s unique dynamics with ease. While it’s essential to respect local customs and laws, the carefully curated luxury offerings within hotels and resorts provide an inclusive and secure experience.

Dubai’s appeal as a destination is undeniable, but it’s also a city of contrasts. For LGBTQ+ travelers, understanding the cultural context and planning with expert guidance ensures a memorable trip that balances the extraordinary luxury of this desert metropolis with necessary caution.

Travel Information for Dubai

General Information

Dubai is a byword for luxury. There are many world-class hotels to choose from. You’ll even find a seven-star hotel. We only work with the most gay-friendly hotels in Dubai. That may seem unlikely. Gay-friendly hotels in Dubai, how can that happen? The truth is never pure and rarely simple. Tourists can go about their business in Dubai with a degree of discretion. Gay cabin crew also spend a lot of time in Dubai, and have quite a lot of fun flying under the radar, if you’ll pardon the pun.

Pre-oil, it was quite a different story. The oil boom happened in the 1960s. Dubai was a modest place. People lived fairly modestly into the 1970s, but then big money began to transform the city.

Clearly, Dubai is not the most gay-friendly of destinations. Any public displays of affection are ill-advised, whether you’re gay or straight. This includes holding hands on the beach. Dubai is very conservative. That being said, in some ways it’s very decadent and hedonistic. Dubai is a place of many contradictions.

Dubai LGBTQ+ Rights

Dubai, part of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), presents a complex and challenging environment for LGBTQ+ individuals due to the country’s conservative laws and societal norms. Same-sex relationships are criminalized under UAE law, with penalties ranging from fines and deportation for foreigners to imprisonment or harsher sentences for locals. Public displays of affection, regardless of sexual orientation, are strictly prohibited and can result in legal consequences.

Despite these restrictions, Dubai has become an international hub for business and tourism, attracting visitors from all walks of life. The city operates under a cosmopolitan veneer, where discretion is key for LGBTQ+ travelers. While overt expressions of LGBTQ+ identity are not legally or socially accepted, many visitors report enjoying a safe experience by adhering to local customs and maintaining privacy.

Dubai offers world-class luxury, including high-end hotels, dining, and entertainment. Some establishments subtly cater to a diverse clientele, though they must do so within the bounds of the law. It’s essential for LGBTQ+ travelers to remain aware of local regulations and exercise caution.

While Dubai is not an LGBTQ+-friendly destination by legal or cultural standards, its appeal as a luxurious, modern city draws visitors seeking a high-end travel experience. Those considering travel should carefully weigh the legal risks and societal challenges while adhering to the conservative expectations of the region.

What Everyone Does In Dubai

Take a trip up the Burj Khalifa, a skyscraper that’s been hailed as the world’s tallest building since 2009. It’s shiny, ostentatious and huge – so it’s the living embodiment of Dubai. You can have lunch at the top with stunning views to enjoy.

In the evening, be sure to visit the incredible Dubai Fountain, located right in front of the Burj. The Dubai Fountain is the world’s tallest performing fountain. Bellagio who?

What Some People Do In Dubai

Go for afternoon tea at Atlantis, The Palm – one of our favourite luxury hotels in Dubai. You can enjoy happy hour at the bar as well.

What No One Else Does In Dubai

Go for a very bouji lunch at Burj Al Arab – the world’s only 7-star hotel. It’s super luxury, to put it mildly, and another example of Dubai’s opulence.
