Drift along a sheer wall of glowing white soft coral in the Somosomo Strait, on a private charter timed to the tide.
A Reef That Runs on the Tide

Rainbow Reef lies in the Somosomo Strait between Taveuni and Vanua Levu and is known for some of the most celebrated soft coral diving anywhere. Its signature site, the Great White Wall, falls away from about fifteen metres into a sheer face covered in white soft coral that, when the light is right, seems lit from inside. The current is what feeds that colour, so everything here depends on the tide.
Elsewhere along the strait, gardens of hard and soft coral are home to reef sharks, turtles and thick schools of reef fish riding the flow.
Drifting with the Current

This is a drift dive: you let the tide carry you along the wall instead of swimming against it. Your instructor briefs you on that day’s tide and current, since visibility and difficulty change a lot between an incoming and an outgoing tide, and the White Wall is best dived on the incoming.
You’ll need to be certified and comfortable in moving water for the Wall itself. Less experienced divers and strong snorkellers can be matched to gentler parts of the strait.
The best trips begin with a conversation, not a booking form.

With your own charter, departure follows the tide rather than a fixed group time, which here can decide whether a dive is ordinary or unforgettable. A smaller group also means more attention from your instructor underwater, which helps on a drift dive while you get used to the current and your buoyancy. For a diving couple or a group of friends, the boat is simply yours for the day.
Taveuni Between Dives

Out Of Office books private charters timed to the tide with operators who dive this stretch of the strait regularly. The dive fits naturally into a stay on Taveuni, with the island’s waterfalls and rainforest for the days out of the water, and your LGBTQ+ travel specialist can suggest a welcoming place to stay.
No two trips we plan are the same. Yours will be no exception.
Every itinerary starts as a blank page and is shaped around your pace, your routing and the places you actually want to see.

A Private Sevusevu: The Kava Welcome at a Fijian Village
Arriving as a Guest In Fiji, you don't simply walk into a village. The customary way in is sevusevu: before anything else happens, visitors present kava root to the chief. Done privately, the ceremony moves at its own pace and ends in a shared bowl of kava, conversation and often a meal, a real welcome rather than a stop on a schedule. You reach the village by a short boat ride from your resort.

Savusavu’s Hot Springs with a Private Guide, Vanua Levu, Fiji
Hot Springs in the Middle of Town Savusavu, on the southern coast of Vanua Levu, Fiji's second-largest island, is a short domestic flight from Nadi or Suva. Its volcanic hot springs are not a spa. Small pools and steaming vents lie close to the town centre, some loosely fenced off, others simply part of the ground between houses and gardens, and residents and market traders walk past them on everyday errands.
