This eight-day trip opens on the white sand and turquoise water that made Cancun one of Mexico's best-known destinations, part of a Riviera Maya coastline that has become an increasingly comfortable base for LGBTQ+ travelers, even without a dedicated gay neighborhood of its own.
From the resort, the trip reaches into the region's history. Chichén Itzá and Tulum, both UNESCO World Heritage Sites, offer a picture of Mayan civilization that ranges from the astronomical precision of El Castillo to the cliffside setting of Tulum's ruins, directly above the Caribbean Sea.
Snorkeling in the Caribbean's clear water is an easy addition to any day, and the region's food, from fresh ceviche to slow-cooked cochinita pibil, rounds out a trip built as much around relaxation as history.
The final days are left open by design, with cenote-hopping further inland a popular add-on for those who want one more excursion, alongside sailing along the coast or simply more time on the beach.

Arrive in Cancun, where a private driver meets you at the airport and takes you directly to your beachfront hotel. The first day is left unstructured, the easiest way to settle into the pace of the coast after travel, whether that means an afternoon on the beach, a swim in the pool, or simply resting after an early flight.
The second day is yours to shape. Cancun’s hotel zone runs along a narrow strip between the Caribbean Sea and the Nichupte Lagoon, and both sides offer their own version of the coast: calm, protected water on the lagoon side for kayaking or paddleboarding, and open Caribbean surf on the beach side for swimming and sunbathing.
For those who want a change of scene, a short boat trip out to Isla Mujeres offers a quieter, more low-key alternative to Cancun’s own beaches, along with some of the clearest snorkeling water in the area.
A private guide collects you early for the drive inland to Chichén Itzá, one of the New Seven Wonders of the World and among the most visited archaeological sites in the Americas. El Castillo, the Kukulkan Pyramid, dominates the site, its four staircases and stepped terraces aligned with such precision that the spring and autumn equinoxes cast a shadow resembling a serpent descending the steps.
Beyond the pyramid, the Great Ball Court, the largest in the ancient Mayan world, and the Sacred Cenote, a natural sinkhole once considered a portal to the underworld, round out a fuller picture of the site than a quick photo stop allows. The return drive typically includes a stop at a cenote for a swim in some of the clearest freshwater in the region, a welcome break from the midday heat.
Head south to Tulum, where Mayan ruins sit directly above the Caribbean Sea, one of the only such sites built along the coast rather than inland. The clifftop setting, with turquoise water on one side and jungle on the other, is what sets Tulum apart from the peninsula’s other archaeological sites.
The town itself, just beyond the ruins, has become known for its beach clubs, boutique restaurants, and relaxed, design-forward pace, offering a natural place to spend the afternoon before the drive back to Cancun.
