Niehku Mountain Villa is located in Riksgränsen in the depths of Swedish Lapland, 200 km from the Arctic Circle. It’s on the border between Sweden and Norway, so it’s ideal if you’re looking for a twin-centre Nordic itinerary. Welcome to an Alpine world of mountains and powdery snow. This is the heart of Lapland. The villa itself offers luxury accommodation and world-class cuisine. It was opened by Jossi Lindblom and Patrik Strömsten, two skiing enthusiasts
It comes with 14 double rooms. The interiors were designed by the celebrated Stylt agency. Niehku – which means “dream” in Sami – is built on the site of the Sweden/Norway trailine’s old roundhouse. It’s a historic trainline that’s ferried iron ore across the region for over a century. Niehku Mountain Villa gives you the chance to experience one of the most remote parts of Lapland in style. It’s a true bucket list experience.

Sweden stands as a beacon of progress and inclusivity in the realm of LGBTQ+ rights, consistently leading the way with its comprehensive policies and societal acceptance. As one of the first countries to legalize same-sex sexual activity in 1944, Sweden has long been at the forefront of LGBTQ+ equality. In 2009, the country legalized same-sex marriage, granting LGBTQ+ couples full legal recognition and rights.
Sweden’s commitment to its LGBTQ+ citizens is reflected in its robust anti-discrimination laws, which cover sexual orientation and gender identity in employment, education, and public services. The country’s inclusive education policies ensure that LGBTQ+ issues are addressed in schools, creating an environment where young people can feel accepted and supported. Additionally, Sweden is home to a vibrant LGBTQ+ community with numerous community centers, Pride events, and cultural activities that celebrate diversity and foster connection.
This welcoming atmosphere makes Sweden a model of acceptance and a safe haven for LGBTQ+ travelers and residents alike. Visitors can explore the country’s progressive cities, including Stockholm and Gothenburg, where LGBTQ+ individuals are celebrated and can freely express their identities without fear. Sweden’s legal protections, social acceptance, and vibrant LGBTQ+ culture offer a unique experience, ensuring that everyone feels welcome in this inclusive and forward-thinking nation.
Accommodation
Accomodation
The rooms are very comfortable and well-appointed. The design has a classic Scandi feel. Warmly accented colours and wooden-panelled walls have the classic Swedish country retreat vibe. The rooms are fairly small but you’re unlikely to find a more luxurious base from which to explore the wilderness.
