Best For Countryside: Chewton Glen
The UK is famed for its green and rolling hills. You could spend a lifetime exploring the countryside. One of our favourite hotels in the countryside is Chewton Glen. It’s surrounded by 130 acres of beautiful Hampshire countryside and close to the New Forest National Park. The New Forest was established as a royal forest after the Norman Conquest. It remains the largest tract of land never to be submerged by the enclosures.
Chewton Glen is a stunning five-star property and it’s a member of the Relais & Châteaux collection of hotels. All hotels in the collection are renowned for their quality service. The rooms are modern in design but complement the traditional architecture of the building. Most have their own terrace, balcony or private garden. You can even try one of Chewton Glen’s treehouses set high among the trees in the valley. This is a great base from which to explore the New Forest.

Best Georgian Manor: Babington House
The Georgian period ushered in many of England’s greatest stately homes and manors. One of our favourites is Babington House in Somerset. Built in 1705 and set amidst 18 acres of countryside, it’s a beautiful luxury retreat. It’s also about as English in its style as you’ll get. Just 30-minutes from Bath, one of the most charming destinations in the UK, you’ll have an iconic city to visit that’s right on your doorstep.
The bedrooms at Babington House are only available to Soho House members. If you’re not a member it’s well worth signing up. The Soho House properties are world-class. At Babington House, you’ll be waking up in an impeccably stylish room and feel like you’re in one of those classic BBC period dramas.
Best For Scotland: The Gleneagles Hotel
This is the only property in Scotland with a two-star Michelin restaurant. The Gleneagles Hotel is located in the countryside of Perthshire, close to the famous Highlands. The design of the hotel has Art Deco origins. A huge refurbishment restored much of its original Art Deco glory.
Service is especially good at The Gleneagles Hotel. There are two pools, a luxury spa and even an equestrian school. The rooms are suites are impeccably chic. Modern yet decorated with charming antiques, this hotel maintains its Old World charm without being remotely stuffy. This is the place to stay if you’d like to do Scotland in style.
Best For London: The Kensington
The Kensington is one of the most stylish hotels in London. Comprised of four Victorian townhouses, giving it an air of old-world grandeur. There’s a stucco facade leading to the Drawing Room and the White Room. All of the rooms and suites are very opulent. The drapes, lavish headboards and oversized beds are very satisfying. There are upscale aromatherapy amenities in the bathrooms. High ceilings, columned balconies and entry-ways are blended effortlessly with the modern design and decor.
The UK capital is probably the most exciting, fast-paced city in Europe. This hotel is an ideal base from which to explore London.

Best For London: Claridge's
An iconic hotel since 1854, Claridge’s is one of the world’s most recognisable brands. This hotel is a stomping ground for Hollywood stars, statesmen and even royalty. Not many hotels are this glamorous: it was a favourite haunt of Audrey Hepburn and Winston Churchill.
The Art Deco interiors reflect the major refurbishment the hotel underwent in the 1920s. Fera, the hotel’s flagship restaurant, is run by Michelin-starred chef, Simon Rogan. It offers an afternoon tea endorsed by the Tea Guild. Indeed, afternoon tea at Claridge’s is an event as much as a meal. This is a great choice if you want to stay in a classically British hotel in the heart of London.

Best For Ascot: Pennyhill Park
Supposing you’d like to don a jaunty hat and visit Ascot, Pennyhill Park is a great place to stay. It’s just a short drive to Ascot, Windsor Castle and Savill Gardens. Pennyhill Park is an 18th-century building surrounded by 123 acres of countryside. It’s surrounded by verdant gardens and full of character. There’s a Michelin-star restaurant and an excellent spa. You can order champagne as you lounge by the pool.
There are 126 rooms to choose from, including sumptuous suites. The decor combines contemporary and vintage with four-poster beds, double spa baths and rain showers. The famed on-site restaurant is The Latymer. You can opt for a seven course tasting menu paired with excellent wines.
