We recommend
Travelling solo is one of the most rewarding ways to see the world. You choose the destination, the pace, and the experience without compromise. You eat where you want, stay as long as you like, and build an itinerary around exactly what interests you.
For gay travellers in particular, going solo often means the freedom to explore destinations and scenes that a mixed-group trip wouldn’t naturally gravitate toward.
The planning is where a luxury LGBTQ+ travel specialist earns their place. The best trips at this level require knowledge that goes beyond what a search engine returns. Which neighbourhoods in Mexico City or Berlin to base yourself in for the gay scene. Which ryokans in Japan welcome solo guests. Which guided experiences in Southeast Asia suit independent travellers who want company for a day without committing to a group tour. Which time of year to hit Mykonos or Puerto Vallarta if the scene and the social energy matter as much as the beach.
You arrive informed and well-placed, with someone available before, during, and after your trip who understands both luxury travel and the specific considerations that matter to you.
For travellers who want company on the journey itself, our gay group trips bring together like-minded people on carefully designed small-group itineraries. Destinations across Europe, Asia, Latin America, and beyond.
Solo travel at its best is liberating, eye-opening, and deeply personal. We are here to make sure it is also seamless.

Best Gay Solo Travel Destinations
Europe
Europe rewards solo gay travelers more than almost any other region. Short hops between cities, a shared culture of cafe life and nightlife that makes it easy to fall into a rhythm somewhere new, and an unmatched concentration of gay scenes.
Berlin is the standout for many. The city operates on its own terms: late nights, a techno and queer culture that has no real equivalent anywhere else, and a social openness that solo travelers tend to find immediately welcoming. Barcelona combines a world-class gay scene in the Eixample district with beaches, architecture, and food that give the city substance well beyond the nightlife. Lisbon has emerged as one of Europe’s most compelling destinations for gay travelers: a beautiful, walkable city with a relaxed atmosphere, excellent restaurants, and a Principe Real neighborhood that punches well above its size for LGBTQ+ bars and venues.
Thailand
Thailand has been a favourite for solo gay travelers for decades, and Bangkok remains one of the most immediately welcoming cities in the world for LGBTQ+ visitors. Silom’s gay district delivers on every level: rooftop bars, world-class street food on the doorstep, and a nightlife scene that runs deep into the morning. The city also rewards those who look beyond it, with some of the best luxury hotels in Asia, a food scene that has no peer in the region, and day trips to temples and markets that justify extending any trip by a few days.
Chiang Mai offers a completely different register: cooler, quieter, and increasingly popular with gay travelers who want the warmth of Thai hospitality without the pace of Bangkok. For beach time, Koh Samui and Phuket both have established LGBTQ+ scenes and resort hotels that cater well to solo guests.
USA
The obvious cities deliver for good reason. New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco each have gay neighborhoods and infrastructure that need little introduction, and all three reward solo travelers who want to drop into a ready-made scene from day one. Hell’s Kitchen in New York, West Hollywood in LA, and the Castro in San Francisco remain among the best gay neighborhoods in the world.
The less obvious choice is Palm Springs. A desert resort town two hours from LA that has become one of the most concentrated and welcoming gay destinations in the country. The pace is slower, the hotels are exceptional, and the social scene there is built around pool parties, open-air dining, and the kind of easy conversation that solo travelers sometimes find more elusive in a big city. Palm Springs is also a great choice for gay seniors planning a solo trip.

Ten Years of Out Of Office: How We’re Redefining LGBTQ+ Travel
Ten years ago, I was sitting around a table with a group of friends, trying to come up with a name for a luxury, LGBTQ+ travel company. The list was long and mostly rainbow-themed. But at the last minute, just as we were about to give up, someone suggested yet another name: Out Of Office. That was the moment it clicked. Out Of Office perfectly captured the shift from everyday routine to something freer.

How Mykonos Became the Gay Capital of Greece
Greece's shimmering Cycladic island of Mykonos is one of Europe's premier LGBTQ+ destinations, drawing over 30,000 gay travellers annually to its beaches and legendary nightlife. But this transformation from a quiet fishing village to the crown jewel of Mediterranean gay tourism didn't happen overnight - it was forged through a convergence of celebrity influence, economic pragmatism, and perfectly timed cultural shifts that began over 50 years ago.
ReadGay Solo Travel for Singles
Solo travel and single travel are not the same thing, but they often overlap. Many of the gay travelers who travel with us solo are also open to meeting people along the way, and the destinations and experiences that make for a great solo trip tend to be the same ones that make it easy to connect with like-minded travelers.
The key is choosing the right destination at the right time. Puerto Vallarta’s Zona Romantica has a social energy that is genuinely hard to find elsewhere: a compact, walkable neighborhood where the bars, beaches, and restaurant terraces create a natural circuit that solo travelers fall into easily. Vallarta Pride in May draws an international crowd, but the gay scene there runs year-round at a level most destinations only achieve during their peak week.
Gran Canaria, and Maspalomas in particular, is Europe’s answer to that kind of destination. The southern resort has built an LGBTQ+ infrastructure over decades that makes it one of the most socially welcoming places on the continent for solo gay travelers. The Winter Pride festival in November and Maspalomas Pride in May are the peaks, but the destination works at any time of year.
Berlin operates differently to both. The connections made there tend to happen through shared experience rather than resort social life: a night at Berghain (if you feel daring), a Sunday afternoon at Tiergarten, an LGBTQ+ art opening in Mitte. The city rewards solo travelers who engage with it on its own terms rather than arriving with a fixed itinerary: Berlin may well be the most liberal city in Europe.
We plan all of these trips with solo travelers specifically in mind: hotel locations chosen for walkability to the right neighborhoods, experiences that put you in the right place at the right time, and the knowledge of when and where to be that takes years to accumulate.

A Luxury Gay Guide to Venice
Venice has been attracting artists, writers, exiles, and travellers who didn't quite fit the world they came from for the better part of a millennium. The city has always understood that beauty and unconventionality tend to travel together, and that instinct for openness runs through its culture in ways that make it one of the most naturally welcoming destinations in Europe for LGBTQ+ travellers.
ReadGay Group Trips for Solo Travelers
Traveling solo and joining a group trip are a natural combination. You book as an individual, travel with a small group of like-minded people, and come home having seen somewhere exceptional with company you didn’t have to organize yourself.
Our gay group trips are designed for exactly this. Small groups, luxury hotels and experiences throughout, and itineraries that go well beyond the standard tourist circuit. No singles supplements on selected departures, and no compromise on quality because you are traveling alone.
The range covers most of the world. In Europe, a luxury journey through Greece taking in Athens, Santorini, Naxos, and Mykonos, or a Rhine River cruise from Frankfurt to Basel. In Asia, Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia over thirteen days, or our Tokyo trip exploring Japan’s culture and contrasts.
Further afield, an Amazon cruise combined with Machu Picchu in Peru, eight days in Ecuador and the Galapagos, a Nile River cruise through Egypt, or a safari from Cape Town into Botswana. For something genuinely off the map, our Antarctica expedition remains one of the most extraordinary group experiences we offer.
Every trip is led by experienced guides and supported by our team throughout. The groups are deliberately kept small, which means the dynamic tends to be easy and the logistics seamless.
If none of the scheduled departures fit your plans, we build tailor-made solo itineraries to any destination on the same basis: luxury throughout, every detail handled, and a specialist who knows the destination properly.
Your personal travel specialist, from the first conversation to the flight home.

A City Guide To Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Mexico. The big attractions are the white sand beaches, chic hotels, buzzing nightlife and excellent gastronomy. It's considered to be a top foodie destination in Mexico, second only to the capital city. Needless to say, it’s also something of a gay mecca. I wanted to see what all the fuss was about so I went to investigate. Did it live up to expectations?
ReadPlan Your Gay Solo Trip
Every solo trip we build starts with a conversation. Where you want to go, how you like to travel, what you want to feel at the end of it. From there, your dedicated specialist handles everything: the hotels, the experiences, the transfers, the timing, and the local knowledge that makes the difference between a good trip and one you talk about for years.
Solo travel at this level means having someone in your corner from the first enquiry to the day you get home. You’ll get a specialist who has been to the destination, knows the properties, and understands what gay travelers specifically are looking for when they travel alone.
The trips we build for solo travelers are as varied as the people who take them. A week in Berlin going deep into the city’s queer culture. Two weeks through Southeast Asia moving between Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and the islands. A group journey to the Galapagos with eleven other travelers who booked as individuals and arrived as a group. A slow week in Lisbon doing nothing more demanding than eating well and exploring a beautiful city at your own pace.
Whatever you have in mind, we would like to hear about it.

Slow Travel Fiji: A Luxury Long Stay Adventure
Tailor-made HolidayMost Fiji itineraries move quickly; this one does not, and that is the entire point.
