Day 2-12 Seabourn Cruise

Monemvasia, Greece

Your first port of call is the enchanting fortress town of Monemvasia, Greece. This medieval island city appears to dramatically emerge from the Aegean Sea. Though connected to mainland Greece by a causeway, this great rocky outcrop maintains the allure of an island.

Once famed for producing Malmsey wine during the Middle Ages, Monemvasia remains a rugged and romantic retreat. The city’s cobbled streets and Byzantine churches offer a journey through the past. Explore the fortress’ walls and discover hidden cafes, with breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea as your backdrop.

Valletta, Malta

Sail to Valletta, Malta’s storied capital. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a treasure trove of baroque buildings, historical sites, and vibrant street life.

Malta’s rich history unfolds in its architecture. The capital still displays the legacy of the medieval Knights of St. John, seen in masterpieces like St. John’s Co-Cathedral and the Grand Masters Palace.

For courageously resisting WWII German occupation, Malta was awarded the George Cross. Now independent since 1964, Malta continues to captivate with its war-worn fortifications still guarding the island’s magnificent harbours.

Mgarr (Victoria), Gozo, Malta

Experience the serene beauty of Mgarr (Victoria) on the island of Gozo. This port isn’t often visited by cruise ships – more likely fishing boats and private yachts – such is the added luxury of Seabourn cruises. Uncover Gozo’s rich history, explore the Ggantija Temples, and enjoy the island’s unspoiled beaches and charming villages.

Known for its ancient temples and beautiful landscapes, nearby Mgarr offers a tranquil escape. It boasts elaborate churches, adorned with intricate carved stone, giving you a glimpse into the village’s history.

The nearby cliffside town of Taormina captivates with its seaside Greco-Roman temples, streets, and grand amphitheater – making it one of Italy’s foremost archaeological sites. Enjoy a stroll through Taormina’s vibrant streets, lined with boutiques and cafes.

For beachgoers, Giardini Naxos itself charms with the lovely sands at Lido Europa. And adventurous travellers can climb Mount Etna to observe the active volcano’s awe-inspiring power up close.
