Duba Plains Camp sits on a 77,000-hectare private concession in the heart of the Okavango Delta, a landscape of palm-dotted islands, open floodplains, and woodland.

Dereck and Beverly Joubert, the National Geographic filmmakers and conservationists who co-founded Great Plains Conservation, chose this concession as their base for decades of wildlife filmmaking. The lion and buffalo interactions that defined their work in the Delta, documented in the National Geographic film Relentless Enemies, took place on these plains.

The camp was designed by Dereck Joubert to draw on the safari aesthetic of the 1920s, with recycled railway sleepers forming the raised platforms of every suite and the main deck that extends out over the swamp beneath a canopy of ebony trees.

Great Plains Conservation is the only operator on the concession, with a maximum of ten guests at any one time, making it one of the most private positions in the Delta. The camp holds Relais and Chateaux membership alongside Zarafa, and a conservation levy from every stay is directed to the Great Plains Foundation’s work across Botswana, Kenya, and Zimbabwe.
