Hotel Santa Caterina has been in the same Gambardella family for more than four generations, its Art Nouveau villa built into a cliff face above the sea on the Amalfi Drive, surrounded by Sfusato Amalfitano lemon groves.
All 66 rooms and suites have sea or garden views, with hand-painted majolica floors from Vietri, marble bathrooms, and early 20th-century family furniture throughout. The property’s most extraordinary suites, including the cliffside Romeo and Juliet chalet with its own heated infinity pool, sit within the lemon groves and operate as private escapes within the hotel.
Private glass elevators cut through the rock face down to the Beach Club, where a seawater pool and sun terraces occupy a platform directly above the water.
Dining is anchored by Glicine, the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant now in its third consecutive year with the distinction, alongside Al Mare at sea level for grilled fish and wood-fired pizza. A full spa with sauna, Turkish bath, and sea-view fitness center rounds out the offer.

Classic Rooms
The entry-level category at Hotel Santa Caterina, designed around the hotel’s signature aesthetic: hand-painted Vietri majolica floors, marble bathrooms, and a mix of contemporary and early 20th-century furnishings. All rooms have a balcony or terrace with sea or garden views and standard in-room amenities including minibar, satellite TV, and air conditioning.
Junior Suite
A step up in space with a comfortable living area, large bathtub, and a balcony or terrace overlooking the Amalfi Coast. The same Vietri ceramic floors and marble bathrooms run throughout. The Executive Junior Suite category sits above this, offering greater proportions and positioning within the property.
Suites
Elegant and spacious, with a full living area, large bathtub, and panoramic terraces or private gardens. Each suite has its own distinct character, furnished with family pieces and decorated to feel like a private residence within the hotel rather than a conventional hotel room.
Special Suites
The hotel’s most extraordinary accommodations, each sitting within the lemon groves and cliff face. Romeo e Giulietta is a two-story chalet above the sea with a private heated infinity pool and solarium. Follia Amalfitana is set deep in the citrus grove with its own private heated infinity pool. These are bookable on request only and represent the most private, villa-style option on the Amalfi Coast.
