At a glance
One of the most celebrated small hotels in the world, set in an 18th-century lakeside villa on the western shore of Lake Como above the village of Moltrasio.
Passalacqua was built as a private retreat for friends, leisure and the pleasures of the table, and that ethos has never really left. The current owners restored the property with uncommon restraint, preserving its intimate, house-party character while bringing the rooms and gardens to a standard that has earned it the top spot in the World’s 50 Best Hotels list.
It remains a place that resists the vocabulary of conventional luxury hotels.
The property divides across three distinct structures: the main Villa, the Palazz and the waterfront Casa al Lago. A terrace pool edged with climbing roses and a bay tree sits below the villa, while direct lake access, a spa and a dining program rooted in the produce of the region complete a stay defined less by amenities than by atmosphere.

Accommodation
Casa al Lago
The waterfront house, with the most direct relationship to the lake of all three buildings. Suites here are suited to guests who want to be as close to the water as possible, with immediate access to the private beach and jetty.
Palazz
The Palazz occupies a secondary building on the estate, offering suites that share the same considered aesthetic as the Villa while sitting at a slightly different vantage point across the terraced grounds.
Villa
Rooms and suites within the original 18th-century villa, positioned at the highest point of the estate. Interiors reflect the property’s aristocratic past, with period detailing, curated antiques and lake or garden views.

Dining
Passalacqua’s food and drink program is rooted in the rhythms of the lake and the surrounding region. Meals lean into Lombard and Larian traditions, with produce sourced from the estate’s own kitchen garden and trusted local suppliers. The dining terraces make the most of the setting, with lake views across to the eastern shore whether the meal is a long breakfast or an evening table. The bar tends toward aperitivo culture, with the hour before dinner treated as an occasion in itself.
