One of the most cosmopolitan countries on earth, Canada really does have it all when it comes to luxury travel. An ideal destination for a gay or lesbian honeymoon, Canada was one of the first places on earth to legalize same-sex marriage. Gay travelers have always been welcome in Canada.
From the bustling cities of Toronto and Vancouver to the slopes of Whistler and the falls of Niagara, the country is teeming with activity. Boasting a high standard of living and stable political system, Canada seems to have the balance just right. Most countries look on with envy.
The Great White North is a vast and beautiful country. You’ll no doubt want to visit French Canada. Montreal is a fabulous city and it has one of the best gay scenes in North America, with plenty of drag bars and gay clubs for fun nights out. The people of Canada have a reputation for being very welcoming, so you’re sure to feel right at home in this wonderfully progressive nation.
One of Canada’s foremost draws for luxury travelers is its wealth of natural beauty waiting to be explored in comfort. Banff and Jasper National Parks in the Alberta Rockies allow you to hike on glaciers, breathe crisp mountain air, and unwind in luxe lodges after days spent adventuring. On the east coast, Cape Breton Island in Nova Scotia entices with scenic coastal drives past lighthouses and quaint fishing villages.
From its vibrant cosmopolitan cities to its unspoiled natural wonders, Canada offers something for every luxury traveler’s interests. Canada stands as one of the world’s most progressive countries when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights and protections. Same-sex sexual activity has been legal nationwide since 1969, and Canada banned discrimination based on sexual orientation in the Canadian Human Rights Act in 1996. In 2005, it became the fourth country in the world to legalize same-sex marriage nationwide.
Canada continues to expand LGBTQ rights and equality. The government added gender identity and expression as protected grounds to the Canadian Human Rights Act in 2017. All provinces and territories include gender identity and expression in human rights laws and legally recognize non-binary genders. In 2017, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau issued a formal apology to LGBTQ+ citizens for past discrimination.
See the stunning Niagara Falls in action and watch the unstoppable flow of water tumble down to the bottom of the waterfall. It is packed with tourists but totally worth it.
Haida Gwaii is an archipelago on the West Coast of Canada. It is home to many unique and fascinating species of flora and fauna including bald eagles and bears.
Sable Island is not known to many people since the main inhabitants of the island are wild horses. The island is located just off the coast of Nova Scotia but is part of Canada.
