Bali has built its reputation as Southeast Asia’s most welcoming destination for gay couples over decades of tourism, and it shows in the details, hotels that don’t blink at a joint honeymoon suite, wedding planners who’ve run same-sex ceremonies for years, staff trained to treat two grooms or two brides exactly like any other newlyweds.

Seminyak and Canggu hold the bulk of that infrastructure. Private pool villas here come standard with outdoor showers and daybeds, and many properties build wedding packages specifically around same-sex couples, from the ceremony itself through to a private dinner on the beach once the sun’s down.

A couples’ massage is easy to arrange almost anywhere on the island, whether it’s a treatment room backed by rainforest or a cliff-top spa terrace with the ocean stretched out below.

Ubud offers a different pace entirely. Rice terraces, jungle paths, and centuries-old temples give the island’s interior a quieter, more reflective character, well suited to couples who want yoga and guided meditation over beach clubs and drag shows. Both registers, coast and interior, sit close enough together that a week can move between them easy transfers.

Bali gives couples a rare mix, an island built for tropical honeymoon staples like private pools and sunset dinners, backed by a welcoming attitude toward same-sex couples that not every destination in the region can offer.

Gay Honeymoons in Bali

Seminyak’s LGBTQ+ scene has grown alongside its luxury hotel industry rather than separately from it.

The neighborhood’s private villa compounds and beachfront resorts are used to hosting same-sex couples without a second thought, and a number of the area’s best restaurants and boutique hotels are LGBTQ+-owned, giving Seminyak a following among gay travelers well beyond Bali itself.

Canggu, a short drive up the coast, offers a quieter, more understated version of the same thing.

Design-forward villas here lean into the rice paddy views rather than ocean frontage, and the neighborhood’s slower pace suits couples who want privacy over proximity to a beach club scene.

Sanur, on the island’s calmer east coast, rounds out the options for couples who want Bali’s coastline without Seminyak’s energy.

Its long promenade and protected waters make it a natural base for quiet mornings, paddleboarding or an early swim before the rest of the day opens up.

Things To Do In Bali

Uluwatu Temple sits on a limestone cliff at the island’s southern tip, and the kecak fire dance performed there most evenings, staged right as the sun goes down over the ocean, is one of Bali’s more memorable evenings out. A private dinner reservation nearby afterward makes it an easy pairing.

Nusa Penida, a short boat ride from Bali’s east coast, is worth a full day for couples who want dramatic coastline without the crowds, Kelingking Beach’s cliffside viewpoint and the Crystal Bay snorkeling spot both rank among the best on the island.

A sunrise trek up Mount Batur rewards an early start with the whole island laid out below as the light comes up, and a private guide can time the pace to suit the couple rather than a group tour’s schedule.

For a quieter afternoon, a private cooking class at a villa, working through Balinese staples like sate lilit and lawar with a personal chef, gives couples something to take home from the trip beyond the usual photos, and it pairs naturally with a market visit earlier in the day to pick out the ingredients themselves.

Emily in Paris Tour: Versailles, Champagne and the Riviera

Tailor-made Holiday

Nine days following the show's most iconic locations, from the rooftops of Paris to the vineyards of Champagne and the glamour of the Riviera. Emily in Paris arrived on Netflix in 2020, during a period when most of the world couldn't travel anywhere, and the timing was not incidental to its success. The show offered something people were acutely missing: Paris in full colour, the food, the fashion, the arguments, the light.

Tailor-made Holiday

Spend eight days tracing the LGBTQ+ artists, writers, and thinkers who shaped French culture, from Gertrude Stein's Paris salon to Jean Cocteau's painted chapel on the Riviera. Gay Honeymoon in France

Tailor-made Holiday

France is one of the great honeymoon countries. The combination of Paris and the Côte d'Azur covers almost everything a honeymoon should be: a world-class city with great restaurants and hotels, followed by four nights on a coastline where the only real agenda is where to have lunch. Seven nights, two regions, one TGV connection. It is not a complicated itinerary, which is the point. Paris needs no hard sell.

Luxury English Country House Tour for LGBTQ+ Travellers

Tailor-made Holiday

The English country house is one of the great inventions of British civilisation. For three centuries these estates shaped the landscape, defined a way of life, and played host to the kind of private world that rarely made it into the history books. What did make it in tells a more interesting story than the official version suggests.

A Gay Honeymoon in Ireland: Dublin and the Wild Atlantic Way

Tailor-made Holiday

Ireland has a legitimate claim to being the most welcoming country in the world for LGBTQ+ couples. In 2015 it became the first nation on earth to legalise same-sex marriage by popular vote, a distinction that says something meaningful about the culture rather than just the legislation. The warmth is genuine, the best hotels understand what the occasion means, and you arrive somewhere that celebrates rather than simply tolerates.

A Gay Honeymoon in Scotland: Edinburgh and the Highlands

Tailor-made Holiday

Scotland might not be warm and sunny but it's very romantic. Edinburgh is one of Europe's most beautiful capital cities, dense with history, excellent restaurants and an LGBTQ+ scene that has been at the heart of the city for decades. The Highlands are something else entirely: ancient forest, dark lochs and mountain passes on a scale that makes most European landscapes feel modest by comparison.

A Gay Honeymoon in England: London and the Cotswolds

Tailor-made Holiday

England is an easier honeymoon than most people expect. The distances are manageable, the best hotels are exceptional, and it's very gay-friendly. What it lacks in tropical weather it makes up for in variety and culture: a world-class capital and, just ninety minutes away, some of the most beautiful countryside in Europe. Same-sex marriage has been legal since 2014, and the country's leading hotels and venues have had years to get good at it.

A Gay Honeymoon in Argentina: Buenos Aires, Wine Country and Patagonia

Tailor-made Holiday

Argentina is one of the few destinations that can carry a honeymoon from start to finish without compromise. You have the energy and culture of Buenos Aires, the slower rhythm of Mendoza’s wine country, and the scale of Patagonia, all within a single, well-planned journey. For gay couples, it is also one of the easiest places in Latin America to travel with confidence.
